The Streets and Arlo Parks have been announced for this year’s Glastonbury Pilton Party.Both acts will perform at the Worthy Farm bash on September 1. Tickets can be purchased from the old Festival Office in Northload Street, Glastonbury from today (August 5) until 4pm BST.The cost for adults will be £40 and £15 for children.On the day, the gates will open at 5pm BST, with the live music set to finish around 11pm.

Bombay Bicycle Club have teamed up with Holly Humberstone on their latest track ‘Diving’ from their forthcoming album.According to a press release, the collaboration stemmed from Humberstone asking the band’s frontman Jack Steadman to work on some writing for her own music. Knowing that Humberstone was a fan of the band, they knew who to ask when they needed someone to accompany Steadman on the track.“’Diving’ is a song about that summer you have when you’re 15, the memory of which conjures up such a unique feeling,” said Steadman.

Blur’s Dave Rowntree has shared his opinion of Labour leader Keir Starmer in a new interview with NME.The Britpop veteran was taking part in the latest installation of NME’s Does Rock N’ Roll Kill Braincells?! series when he was asked to recall key moments from throughout his career, including his work in politics.Alongside his role as the drummer for Blur, Rowntree has also had a successful career in politics throughout much of the 21st Century – even going as far as to be elected as a Labour Councillor in Norfolk in 2017.Now, following his time in the role, which came to an end in 2021, the musician revealed his thoughts on current Labour leader, Keir Starmer.“Well, the test is at General Elections,” he began, discussing how well he thinks the figurehead is faring with the public. “If he wins the General Election, he’ll be widely touted as the most visionary Labour leader of modern times and will join the incredibly small number of Labour leaders who’ve gone on to become prime minister.”“If he loses, he’ll be regarded as an idiot who wrecked the Labour Party and achieved nothing,” he continued.

The Hives have called their recent tour mates Arctic Monkeys “the only good really popular band” in a new interview with NME.The Swedish group supported the Sheffield band on their recent UK stadium tour, with drummer Matt Helders calling them “so much fun to watch” last year.Speaking to NME for the latest interview in the In Conversation video series, Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist responded to other comments from Helders, in which he cited The Hives as one of Arctic Monkeys first real inspirations. “They told us that the first week or month that they started the band, they saw The Hives and The Strokes and that was the thing that really started it off for them,” the frontman said.“We toured with them in South America about 10 years ago and had a great time, so I’m really happy they wanted us back.

Damon Albarn has revealed that he is currently working on an opera, putting Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe’s ‘The Magic Flute Part II’ to music for the first time.Von Goethe started writing the libretto for a sequel to Mozart’s 1791 opera in the mid-1790s, which he then published in 1807. But it was never actually completed or set to music, a task Albarn has now taken on more than 200 years later.“I’m doing an opera at the moment, using Goethe’s fragment he wrote about ‘The Magic Flute Part II’, which is fascinating”, he explained on a new episode of the Broken Record podcast. “You’ve heard of Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’? Well, Goethe, who is a contemporary of Mozart, wrote ‘Part II’ of that – the sequel – but it never got put to music.

Damon Albarn has shared that he believes Arctic Monkeys are “the last great guitar band,” adding that guitar music has gone “sterile”.While appearing on the Broken Record podcast, the Blur frontman discussed the state of guitar music.
