37-count federal indictment against the former president is one that even he says is “very, very damning” and the notion that it is a “witch hunt is ridiculous.”“If even half of it is true, he is toast,” Barr told Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday.” The indictment, filed by Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith, centers around Trump’s actions after leaving office rather than during his time as president. Trump is accused of retaining classified documents after leaving office that “included information regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign counties; United States nuclear programs; potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attack; and plans for possible retaliation in response to foreign attack,” according to the unsealed indictment. Trump is also accused of lying to investigators about the location and volume of the documents he kept at his Mar-a-lago compound, adding obstruction of justice charges to the indictment.
Trump has vowed to plead not guilty to the charges and called them “election interference at the highest level” and “the greatest witch hunt of all time” in a Fox News interview on Thursday. But Barr vehemently disagreed. “This idea of presenting Trump as a victim here or a victim of a witch hunt is ridiculous.
Yes, he’s been a victim in the past. His adversaries have obsessively pursued him with phony claims. And I’ve been at his side defending against them when he is a victim,” he said.
“But this is much different. He’s not a victim here. He was totally wrong that he had the right to have those documents.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor “The Conners” and “The Righteous Gemstones” star John Goodman says he misses his “Roseanne” co-star Roseanne Barr, but he’s not sure he’d work with her again. Hit sitcom “Roseanne” was canceled by ABC in 2018 after a racially-charged tweet by Barr about Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman who was a senior adviser to Barack Obama throughout his presidency. Barr later apologized. Later that year, Goodman told the Sunday Times: “I was surprised at the response. And that’s probably all I should say about that … I know for a fact that she’s not a racist.” He added that Barr was “going through hell.” Barr then thanked Goodman “for speaking truth about me.”

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Musical tag-teaming doesn’t have results much more fruitful than what came about when the showrunners of “A Small Light” picked Ariel Marx to compose the score for the limited series and Este Haim to serve as executive music producer. Neither Haim nor Marx was in a position to take anything about the job lightly, given that the eight-episode series for National Geographic and Disney+ tells the story of a Dutch woman, Miep Gies, who helped hide Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis. Yet, in their very separate roles, both found ways to bring musical light or even levity into a drama that inevitably skews toward tension. Este Haim took on the EMP job for the first time with “A Small Light” after previously scoring or co-composing “Maid” and “Cha Cha Smooth” — on top of her day job as one-third of the rocking sister trio Haim. For “A Small Light,” she produced episode-ending covers of songs from the first half of the 20th century, performed by Angel Olsen, Moses Sumney, Kamasi Washington, Sharon Van Etten with Michael Imperioli, Remi Wolf, Weyes Blood, duet partners Orville Peck and King Princess, and her sister Danielle.
“very busy” and never had a chance to go through the boxes to take out his own personal belongings. On Tuesday morning, Joe Scarborough marveled that Trump “keeps putting himself one step closer to jail” with every “rambling” interview, before turning to McQuade for her input on the situation. “You know, any lawyer would tell him to just stop talking about this matter.

Alison Herman TV Critic Last month, HBO said goodbye to two of its signature series: “Succession,” a tale of three born billionaires vying to replace their aging patriarch; and “Barry,” an action comedy that unlocked new levels of ambition in its star-auteur, Bill Hader. Fans — and, one presumes, the network — were left with a vacuum the next seasons of “The White Lotus” and “House of the Dragon” are too far off to fill. Fortunately, a show that combines the best of both its erstwhile peers returns June 18 for a third season. “The Righteous Gemstones” remains consistent in its outrageous opulence and crude humor, but its latest chapter is unusually well timed. Like “Succession,” “The Righteous Gemstones” follows a family poisoned by wealth and power at a crucial inflection point; like “Barry,” the show has a visual panache that defies our expectations for a half-hour comedy. But unlike either show, “The Righteous Gemstones” resists the impulse to justify its grandeur with dramatic or tragic Jake elements. The Gemstones are not the Roys, forced to confront the emotional poverty beneath their material riches, nor Barry Berkman, scrambling for redemption without real accountability. They’re buffoons, their idiocy only amplified by the motorcycle chases, musical sequences and megachurch sermons that immerse us in their world. The straightforward comic tone doesn’t detract from the sharp observations made by creator Danny McBride and longtime collaborators including Jody Hill, John Carcieri and David Gordon Green. Instead, it channels their insights into masculinity, the South and American conservatism, previously honed on “Vice Principals” and “Eastbound & Down.”

will air an exclusive interview with the women on Thursday. Each woman says Cosby approached them with offers to help them in their careers, using “his enormous power, fame, and prestige, and claimed interest” in order to “isolate and sexually assault them.”The lawsuit then breaks down the individual accusations, each following a familiar pattern of being lured to a secluded place, pressured to take drugs, and then being raped. “Cosby forcefully sexually penetrated or otherwise sexually assaulted Plaintiffs against their will, all while Cosby knew they were mentally and physically incapable of resisting or consenting,” the suit says. The women say they “sustained in the past and will continue to sustain in the future psychological injury, pain, and suffering, serious and severe psychological and emotional distress, mental anguish, embarrassment, and humiliation,” and that they suffered medical expenses and economic problems as a result of their experiences. And plaintiffs are requesting a jury trial, and seek compensatory damages “for pain, suffering, injury, emotuonal distress and for medical expenses past and future,” pre-and-post-judgment interest, punitive damages and the coverage of legal fees, as determined by a jury.In a statement provided to TheWrap, Cosby’s spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, said, “It’s interesting that these ‘Look Back Windows’ are formulating only in those states (New Jersey, New York, Los Angeles and Nevada) where many of Mr.
The positive response to the Dutch reality series De Verraders has brought different versions of The Traitors to many countries, but executive producer Toni Ireland says the biggest challenge for her was to ensure that the U.S. production stood out in the crowd. Peacock’s The Traitors brings together a group of everyday people and reality TV stars in an elaborate murder-mystery competition hosted by Alan Cumming. Perhaps the biggest change in the U.S. series was in how the game ended, which led to a shocking finale where the group needed to unanimously decide to either trust their fellow finalists and split the money or call for another elimination vote if they believe a traitor is still among them.
