Since joining BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing back in 2015, Giovanni Pernice has wowed viewers and judges alike with his choreography and dance routines. Having spent eight years on the show, the 33 year old has won 98 perfect 10s - the most of any of the professionals. In 2021, he and Rose Ayling-Ellis even lifted the Glitterball trophy.
Gushing over her partner, the former EastEnders actress said: “I just wanted to say, you are so amazing. You pushed me to believe in myself more than I believe in myself. You are an incredible teacher and not just that, you are a wonderful friend.” She added: "We've gone through a lot and I just want you to know...
no matter what happens, no matter how busy we get, I just want you to know... you've always got a piece of my heart. You really do." However, in recent days one of Giovanni’s other partnerships on the show has drawn attention after 2023 dance partner Amanda Abbington, who quit the show abruptly in October, was reported to “have PTSD” following her time in the competition.
According to allegations published in The Sun, the actress is said to have struggled with his tough training style and her time on the show is thought to have been “plagued with difficulties”. The source also claimed that Amanda, 51, was “really stressed” at having to spend time training with Giovanni, and “spent a lot of time crying and couldn’t sleep or eat properly”. Some of Giovanni’s other previous dance partners have also spoken about their time on the show, with TV presenter Laura Whitmore saying that she was “broken” after participating in the competition in 2016.
