Strictly Come Dancing viewers have been left upset, as they claim that one of the show's finallists was "robbed" and should have been the one holding up the glitterball trophy. Saturday night's Strictly final saw Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola crowned as the series winners, after fighting off competition from Layton Williams and Bobby Brazier.
An although Ellie had been the favourite to win with the shortest odds in history, some fans were still left disappointed, claiming that Layton should been the winner.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one upset fan wrote: "Congrats ellie but we all know Layton should have won." While another asked: "Congrats ellie but how has Layton not done that? #StrictlyFinal" "Layton should have won! Deffo was robbed." added a third, while a fourth argued that Layton was the show's "most talented contestant." Howver, others were rather pleased with the results, as one argued: "The perfect ending to an incredible final.
Thrilled for Ellie and Vito, the most consistent couple and deserved winners!" And another wrote: "The right winners, they all did fantastic but Ellie and Vito just had that edge" while a third added: "I'm so happy my faves won they deserved it so much." It comes after Layton's participation on the show sparked backlash due to his musical theatre training, with some arguing that this gave him an unfair advantage over contestants with no dance experience. Hitting back at these complaints Layton and his celeb partner Nikita Kuzmin insisted that he "deserves" to be on the show and his stage experience doesn't give him an edge in the ballroom competition.
