BBC Radio Orkney star Dave Gray has passed away, the broadcaster has announced.
The emotional statement saw the BBC Radio team pay tribute to their beloved friend and colleague.
They announced: "Everyone at BBC Radio Orkney is grieving the sudden loss of our friend and colleague Dave Gray, who died on Wednesday following a short illness. For three decades Dave was the heart and soul of the BBC in Orkney and we will miss him terribly. "Our thoughts are with his family and many friends at this most difficult of times.
We will be sharing our tribute to Dave on Friday morning's Around Orkney at 7.30am." The sad news was shared on BBC Radio Orkney's official Facebook page and Big Brother winner turned radio presenter Cameron Stout also reposted the announcement. Dave was loved by his listeners during his three-decade stretch on the station where he hosted popular programmes including 'Around Orkney'. Fans flooded the comment sections sharing fond memories of Dave and expressing condolence messages.
