In the UK, Red Nose Day 2022 will take place on Friday 18th March. Until 2021, Red Nose Day was held every other year, but it will now be held annually. The run-up to the big day usually involves fundraising events across the UK for charity Comic Relief.
TV specials are also aired throughout the week, concluding with a live Red Nose Day telethon, hosted by Comic Relief co-founder Sir Lenny Henry. TV stars and celebrities will come together for a three-hour telethon, during which viewers will be encouraged to pitch donations. Some of the UK’s best loved celebrities will be putting in an appearance over the course of the evening.
Stand up comic and star of shows Fresh Meat and Bad Education, Jack Whitehall, will feature in the night’s proceedings. Viewers can also expect to see Double act French and Saunders, Olympic swimmer Tom Daley, and Strictly Come Dancing winners Rose Ayling Ellis and Giovanni Pernice. The evening will also feature comedy greats David Walliams and Matt Lucas, actor and funny man Guz Khan, and Repair Shop presenter Jay Blades.
The now annual fundraising show will be hosted by Sir Lenny, singer and TV personality Alesha Dixon, David Tennant, actor and comedian Paddy McGuinness, and radio presenter Zoe Ball. They have all had some experience presenting the show in years past, with Tennant having done so on four previous occasions. According to the broadcaster’s TV schedule guide, Red Nose Day 2022 will air on BBC one from 7pm.
