Barbara Windsor's widower Scott Mitchell has opened up about finding love again three years after her death.
Dame Barbara died in December 2020, aged 83, following a seven-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Scott, 60, and the EastEnders legend tied the knot in 2000 and he supported her in her final years.
Scott has found love again with EastEnders actress Tanya Franks, 55, and has appeared on This Morning to chat about his new relationship. Scott founded Babs’ Army after Barbara died and has gone on to raise millions for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Dermot O'Leary about his new relationship Scott said: "We met the first year that we did the marathon. It's a very funny thing. I could not have picked two ladies who are more opposite, they are the polar opposites when it comes to talking about their personal life."
He added: "Tanya is an incredible lady, but she believes that her personal relationships are not something that she wishes to discuss. I respect that. We did meet through running and we still do run together."
Tanya and Scott bonded alongside the rest of the EastEnders' cast while training for the marathon in 2019, 2021 and 2023.
A source told The Sun, Scott is 'truly happy'. They said: "Scott has found love again with Tanya and is truly happy. His and Barbara's friends are delighted he's found someone to share his life with.
"It's fairly early days but Scott is cautiously now looking forward to the future. They made the decision to update their wider circles while on holiday in Greece and everyone was over the moon.
"There is so much friendship and respect between them both and they're taking things slowly."
