The Great British Bakeoff star Ruby Bhogal has revealed that she is engaged to boyfriend James Stewart, a BBC presenter. Ruby, 35, took to Instagram to share the happy news, three weeks after James actually proposed, during a trip to New York.
Despite being thrilled about the news, Ruby, who reached the final of Bake Off in 2018, admitted that the proposal wasn't as romantic as James had planned.
The star, known as Rubes, shared a number of videos and photos taken by James as he followed behind her when they visited various places in New York. In each video, he opened the ring box, featuring two dazzling rings, as Ruby led the way, blissfully unaware of what he was doing behind her.
As well as opening the box when they were wandering around the city, James also snapped a pic of the ring box in bed as Ruby was cleaning her teeth, behind the screen of his open laptop as they sat together in the airport lounge, and as Ruby slept on the plane.
The rings were absolutely stunning, with the engagement ring an ornate gold style with a large pale green diamond set between more diamonds.
There was also another simpler gold ring with diamonds on it. The final snap on Ruby's Instagram post was of her and James beaming alongside each other as she held up her left hand bearing her engagement ring.
She looked stunning in a short-sleeved polka dot blouse, whilst she wore her dark hair pulled back into an elegant ponytail. In the caption, she wrote: "POV: you’re prancing around New York unaware you’re about to be proposed to.
"Have deceptively been hiding my hand in the recent the vids because it’s taken me about 3 weeks to tell most of my family whilst it took James a whole 3 minutes. "I wish we had a romantic story to go alongside it
