Australian police has called on the public to help in a manhunt for Home and Away star Orpheus Pledger.
According to a public notice, a warrant for Pledger’s arrest has been issued after he failed to appear in court over an “assault-related matter.”
Pledger faced four assault offences at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday. He was granted bail for a court-ordered hospital assessment but did not return, prompting a judge to issue the arrest warrant.
Police said he is approximately 170cm tall with brown hair and a tanned complexion. They also released an image of Pledger with a matted beard and longer hair than the image above, which is from 2018.
The note added he is “known to frequent” the Melbourne inner-city suburb of Northcote and surround areas.
Pledger is known for his role as Mason Morgan in Australia soap Home and Away between 2016 and 2019. He also had a role in Neighbours in 2011, appeared in drama series CrashBurn and the ABC’s children’s show Silversun and was a contestant on Season 3 of SAS Australia: Who Dares Wins, but voluntarily left after two days after the hosts became concerned about his “erratic behavior” around the camp.
Pledger’s manager, Craig McMahon, told the Sydney Morning Herald he was shocked by the assault allegations, but had not been in contact with the star. He added Pledger had struggled with mental health issues.
We have reached out to McMahon for further comment.
