National Television Awards viewers were left cringing on Thursday night as Anneka Rice suffered a La La Land blunder. During the 2022 ceremony, host Joel Dommett revealed he had decided to challenge Anneka, in a play on her famous show Challenge Anneka, to head to the stage and present an award in three minutes.To which Anneka entered the stage to announce the winner of the Quiz Game Show award.
However, upon reading out the result, Anneka appeared to get confused as she accidentally read out one of the nominees instead of the winners.The presenter declared: "The 1% Club!" before realising she had read out a nominee as she quickly clarified: "No!" Anneka then smoothed it out by announcing all the other nominees before revealing that Beat The Chasers were the winners. Viewers were quick to comment on the blunder, which appeared to replicate the awkward moment La La Land mistakingly won Best Picture at the Oscars in 2017.
One person said: "You had one job Anneka #NTAs." A different account put: "Not Anneka incorrectly calling The 1% Club the winner #NTAs..." Odd Socks is the second character to be unveiled on The Masked Dancer 2022, following Sea Slug's elimination. After panellists Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall, Peter Crouch and guest panellist John Bishop, deliberated – they decided to boot Odd Socks, unmasking the character as Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh. As host Joel Dommett revealed there had been a Girls Aloud nod in every single clue package, Kimberley, 40, said: “I did this for my kids, they love this show.They have no idea." She continued: "I had to pick Odd Socks, I’m a mum of three boys, that’s my life.” Fans were quick to comment as one person wrote: "OMG Kimberley Walsh! Never had guessed that!
