But following a complaint from deputy Tory party chairman James Daly, the force decided to 'review the circumstances'. Mr Daly, it has been reported, made GMP aware of neighbours' claims that contradicted Ms Rayner's statement that a property, separate from her husband's, was her main residency.
The Bury North MP alleged a false declaration about where she was living may have been made on the electoral register. Today (April 12) GMP confirmed they have reopened the investigation.
A GMP spokesperson said: "We're investigating whether any offences have been committed. This follows a reassessment of the information provided to us by Mr Daly."
