A budget bottle of gin from Aldi has recently been awarded top marks from a prestigious international spirits ceremony.
The UK's fourth largest supermarket chain's own-label Haysmiths Gin is already home to some award-winning flavours that regularly wow professionals and shoppers alike. Now, the grocer has a new flavour to add to that list.
The World Gin Awards recently unveiled its winners for its 2024 ceremony, where it was revealed that the Haysmith's Seville Orange & Persian Lime Gin had been awarded Gold, the highest possible award. It also took home the 'Best in Country' within the Flavoured Gin category.
Following the award, the supermarket's own-brand gin will now compete against medallists and Country Winners to be crowned 'World’s Best' in each category at the World Gin Awards. This year's results will be announced on February 2022.
It's not just taste that shoppers are winning on, as this tangy and refreshing citrus-based spirit is also perfect for price. Coming in at a humble £14.99, it is 46 percent cheaper than the similar Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla Gin that would set you back £28 - saving shoppers £13.
This is the second year in a row that one of Aldi's own-brand bottles of gin has taken the highest possible marks in a prestigous awards ceremony. Its Haysmith's Rhubarb and Ginger Gin achieved the Gold Outstanding Award and 98 points in the 2023 International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC).
