When it comes to awards season, you’d think that designers would be falling over their feet for the chance to dress celebrities like Beyoncé, Khloé Kardashian and Ashley Graham, but sometimes a blue-tick, money and fame isn’t enough to get clothes sent for the red carpet. For whatever reason, these three superstars – plus countless other celebrities – claim that they’ve struggled with finding a designer to dress them for events at some point in their lives and have slammed the industry for discriminating against their size, race or gender identity.
Luckily, in recent years, social media has given many a platform to speak out about these issues, causing the fashion industry to become more inclusive. But we’ve still got a long way to go, and it’ll only get better if we continue the conversation.
