The iconic Roots Picnic looked a little different this year. The annual event went digital in 2020, and served as a collaboration with When We All Vote, the voting rights organization headed by Michelle Obama.

coronavirus concert kibosh.But while the annual event won’t take over Fairmount Park in the City of Brotherly Love — the hometown of the Roots — the music and the message will carry on from the virtual stage on Saturday.In fact, the lineup for the 13th Roots Picnic — which will stream on YouTube — is serving up a host of performances and celebrity appearances to feed your soul and spirit.

Janet Jackson made a special appearance on tonight’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she took part in the Roots’ Tonight Show tradition of inviting extremely popular artists to perform their hits using only musical instruments you’d find in an elementary school classroom.
