U2 guitarist The Edge has discussed frontman and fellow bandmate Bono‘s political “superpower” – and how he was right in becoming a high-profile political activist. In an interview with MOJO,  The Edge shared that U2’s music and extra-curricular political campaigning have become “so intermingled” with the band over time that it would now be “very hard to imagine one without the other”.“There’s obviously been challenging moments, particularly when Bono was making great strides in America and realised his superpower was being able to work both sides of the aisle and persuade politicians from different parts of the spectrum to work together,” he said.“But that meant he was having meetings with people like [right-wing US Senator] Jesse Helms, who famously dismantled the National Endowment for the Arts because of Robert Mapplethorpe’s photographs and made some terrible early comments about the AIDS pandemic. He continued: “So, that was hard. But we understood the logic.

Previously, U2 have scored consecutive Top 10 entries over the past decade, with 2014’s ‘Songs Of Innocence’ and 2017’s ‘Songs of Experience’ peaking at Number Six and Number Five respectively.Additionally, their greatest hits album, ‘U218 Singles’, has also resurfaced and is on its way to reaching the Top 40 for the second time.

Pink has a new album — and it’s all about ‘low-level trauma’

“Trustfall,” and the singer says that making the LP helped her cope with own crisis of faith.“In order to be a human being in this world today, it requires a lot of trust, like just to … drop your kids off at school and participate in elections and have an opinion,” Pink said at an album release party held 101 floors up in the sky at the Edge overlooking Manhattan.“ ‘Trustfall’ is sort of [about] two things … I feel like we’re falling backwards, and the ground is uncertain. But it’s also that freedom and letting go, trusting and having faith in the universe that it’s going to take care of you.”And the 43-year-old mother of two — daughter Willow, 11, and son Jameson, 5 — takes comfort in the fact that “I know if my kids had the muscles, they would catch me.”Making “Trustfall” tunes such as first single “Never Gonna Not Dance Again” — which Pink performed on roller skates to open the American Music Awards last November —  helped the artist deal with her issues during the pandemic.“I wrote ‘Never Gonna Not Dance Again’ because I felt like the world was ending,” said Pink, who also performed acoustic renditions of new tunes “When I Get There” and “Trustfall” at the event, where she was interviewed by Peloton star Cody Rigsby.“I’m not wasting any more time.

Videos on social media captured the moving event in the Eastern European country’s capital city.Bono and The Edge were accompanied for part of the performance by the Ukrainian band Antytila, whose member Taras Topolia joined the country’s military to fight off the Russians and can be seen singing in his military fatigues. Antytila recently collaborated with Ed Sheehan to raise money for the Ukrainian war effort. The U2 performance comes a month after Zelensky made a special address at the Grammys urging US musicians to use their platforms and talents to “tell the truth about” the war.“Fill the silence with your music!” Zelensky said at the time.
