The Casting Society of America is thinking globally. The group is marking its 40th year with a name change that reflects the expansion of its ranks to include casting professionals living and working around the world.

All Of Us Are Dead director Lee Jae-kyoo has spoken about the idea about the social issues that are brought up in the hit Netflix K-drama series.In an interview published by The Korea Times, Lee shared his thoughts on how the series’ running themes of bullying and school violence runs parallel to society at large, expressing his wishes for viewers to re-evaluate their roles in real life.“On the surface, the story talks about school bullying but I don’t think society at large is much different [from school],” he explained. “At first, you might think how cruel those kids can be.

Jamie Lang Entertainment Master Class (EMC), established in 2005 as a new platform for peer-to-peer TV industry education, has launched the Showrunner Society, a hybrid online/in-person community for showrunners and media executives. Last year’s ASC feature film winner was “Mank” cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt who upset “Nomadland” DP Joshua James Richards, the Oscar favorite.

Disney’s “Encanto” also landed six nominations and led the animated contenders.This year marks the Visual Effects Society’s 25th anniversary.

The Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA), which celebrates excellence in the art of Set Decoration for Film, announced its nominees. The Decor/Design categories are highlighting feature-length films of the 2021 season, which were  voted  on by the members of the SDSA.

The adulation for Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s “Drive My Car” continues. After winning Best Film from both the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the New York Film Critics Circle, Japan’s submission for the International Film Oscar dominated the winner’s list from the National Society of Critics.
