Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has had surgery to repair part of his left hip and shave down a misshapen part of his femur. The musician shared an update accompanied by a photo of him on crutches, two weeks after he was unexpectedly fired from the metal band.“This Tuesday, after three years of careful planning, I underwent an outpatient procedure to repair the torn labrum of my left hip and shave down a misshapen part of my femur — a condition that never impacted my drumming in any way, but I’ve wanted to take care of during downtime from my recording and touring schedule,” he wrote.“Since 2020, my priority has been for my playing to go uninterrupted until a window in the schedule would allow me to complete an expected recovery of about four months. In May, that schedule started to show that this window would be now.“After a follow-up MRI in August, I made the decision (alongside those close to me in my personal and professional life) to schedule this surgery immediately following the last performance of 2023, with the ambition and expectation of myself and my doctors to be stage-ready for the next show in April.

Corey Taylor reveals his most over and under-rated Slipknot songs

Corey Taylor has revealed which Slipknot songs he personally thinks are the most over-rated and most under-rated in a new interview. The discussion took place in a new interview with Revolver, in which the Stone Sour and Slipknot frontman revealed his personal opinion on the latter’s extensive discography.Since joining the line-up in 1997, and the band now having seven studio albums under their belt, Taylor admitted, perhaps unsurprisingly, that there are some tracks that he doesn’t necessarily enjoy performing. In the interview, he recalled that the song from their discography that he finds most overrated is the hit track ‘Wait And Bleed’ – one of the many fan-favourites captured within their 1999 self-titled album.“I’m very much on the record saying that ‘Wait and Bleed’ is a pain in my fucking ass,” he began. “I’ve been singing it for 26 years and it hasn’t gotten easier, folks!“But I still sing it with Slipknot and with my solo project, which tells you how much of a psycho I am, because I know people love that song,” he added.

Corey Taylor on tackling ‘PTSD’ on ‘CMFT2’: “I wanted it to be a bridge between people dealing with it and trying to understand”

Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has explained how he raises awareness for PTSD on his new album ‘CMFT2’.The metal icon was speaking as part of a new interview with NME last week when he recalled the themes in his upcoming solo album, ‘CMFT2’, and his want to raise awareness for mental health issues. In the discussion, the Slipknot singer reflected particularly on one track from his upcoming project ‘Post Traumatic Blues’ – a reflective song that explores both his personal experience of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and the extra baggage that follows.“It was one of those songs that I didn’t want to just be about me and my experiences,” Taylor said, explaining the inspiration behind the track.“I wanted it to be a bridge between people who are dealing with PTSD and the people who are desperately trying to understand the nuances of what people have to go through. It’s one of the reasons why it tears families apart and went so undiagnosed for so many years – we never recognised the rainbow of symptoms and issues that come with it.”He continued, adding how the message behind ‘Post Traumatic Blues’ is in line with the non-profit organisation that he launched last year, which is dedicated to providing support for those battling with the condition.“The song is a reflection of what I’ve done with The Taylor Foundation, to try raise money and awareness for these people who have told me that my music has helped them get through tours of duty or get them through night shifts with the emergency services or law enforcement,” he recalled to NME.
