Lambrini Girls have become the latest artist to boycott this year’s South By Southwest Festival, saying they “can’t affiliate ourselves whatsoever” with the event.The Brighton punk band have joined the likes of Scowl, Gel, Okay Shalom and Squirrelflower in pulling out of performing at the festival, which takes place in Austin, Texas from March 12-14.Artists have taken issue with the event’s sponsorship ties to the US Army, amid the current Israel-Palestine crisis. Some have also pointed to the festival’s ties to the defence contractor RTX Corporation, which has supplied weapons to Israel.“We are pulling out of SXSW tomorrow,” the band wrote in a statement posted to social media.

Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon has said that immigration has created “division and animosity” in the UK.The London-born singer, whose parents were immigrants from Ireland, discussed the apparent effects of immigration and doubled down on his support for Brexit during an interview on LBC last night (March 7).“Britain today is so, so catastrophically disappointing,” said Lydon, who now lives in Los Angeles, California.He went on to talk about how some of the shows on his forthcoming spoken word tour – dubbed ‘I Could Be Wrong, I Could Be Right’ – would be taking place “in seaside towns” such as Brighton, Folkestone and Blackpool.“I mean, they really indicate how rundown Britain has become,” Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, continued. “Those used to be fantastic places when I was a kid.

Refused have announced a homecoming gig that will mark their “last festival performance in Sweden” as the band looks to wind down.The Swedish punks took to their official Instagram account to announce their forthcoming performance at Stockholm’s Rosendal Garden Party on Friday, June 14. Slipknot drummer who was fired from the band, has now revealed that he has joined Suicidal Tendencies.In December of last year, Slipknot shared an official statement on social media, claiming that they were “intent on evolving”, and made the “creative decision” that Weinberg will leave the band. His departure was 10 years after he joined the line-up, and just months after keyboardist Craig Jones left the group in June.Following the announcement, Weinberg went online to reveal how he was left “heartbroken and blindsided” by the decision.Today (March 5) Weinberg took to his official Instagram account to announce that he has joined the California crossover thrash icons as their full time drummer.

Bob Vylan have returned with their latest single ‘Makes Me Violent’, taken from their upcoming album ‘Humble As The Sun’. It is the third single from the new record, following on from ‘He’s a Man’ and ‘Hunger Games’. Dream Wife bassist Bella Podpadec has launched exclusive limited edition merch to help crowdfund their top surgery.They took to the band’s official Instagram today (January 26) to share that they have created a very limited edition blue t-shirt which features a pink unicorn playing the bass and the words “Not my body, I am somebody” (a line from Dream Wife’s 2018 song ‘Somebody’) on it as a way to raise money for their top surgery.The tee is priced at £25 and exclusively available on the band’s Bandcamp page. John Lennon – saying that he doesn’t see it as “my proudest moment”.An icon of the Belfast punk scene, Terri Hooley reminisced about some of the biggest moments of his life in a new interview with The Guardian, including his tumultuous encounter with The Beatles legend.In the discussion – done to help promote new biography Terri Hooley: Seventy-Five Revolutions by Stuart Bailie – the music industry veteran recalled how the encounter took place around 1970.Introduced to Lennon in London by friends of Oz Magazine, the musician mistook Hooley as a supporter of the IRA in his pre-pacifist days and offered to supply him with weapons. The mistake led to Hooley throwing a punch at the former Beatle – a move he now says he isn’t proud of.“He was stoned so it wasn’t my proudest moment,” he told the outlet, adding: “When I met Cynthia [Lennon’s first wife] and told her, she said, ‘You should have hit him harder!’”The response to the misunderstanding came from Hooley’s upbringing in Belfast’s troubled times and strong political outlook; which also led to him confronting Bob Dylan about his refusal to stop paying taxes to protest the Vietnam war.Hooley’s importance in the industry comes from his role in putting Belfast on the map for music – launching various counterculture magazines and pirate radio stations during times of conflict.
