‘Oppenheimer,’ ‘Poor Things’ & ‘Succession’ Big 2024 Golden Globe Awards Winners

The Golden Globes are back! Was it worth it? I mean, if Rosamund Pike is gonna serve on the red carpet like this, why not? The host, popular stand-up comedian Jo Koy who, to be frank, most of the nominees in the Beverly Hilton had never heard of, bombed spectacularly but as he noted, he’d only been hired 10 days before. Not ideal.

Andrew Scott Has His Own Theory About The Ghosts In ‘All of Us Strangers’ [Interview]

I was only a few moments into my conversation with Andrew Scott when a look of puzzlement came on his face. And that’s when I realized, “Oh, no I’d spoiled the ‘Drag Race UK’ season, er, series 5 winner for him.” Granted, it had been almost two weeks since the finale and as a publically avid “Drag Race” fan, I just assumed he would have watched it.

Golden Globe Awards Winners As They Are Announced

The Golden Globes are back! Do we care? I mean, if Rosamund Pike is gonna serve on the red carpet like this, why not? The host is popular stand-up comedian Jo Koy who, to be frank, most of the nominees in the Beverly Hilton won’t have heard of, but that’s what happens when CBS acquires the rights for less than half the $40 million NBC was paying for it.

‘Barbie,’ ‘Killers of The Flower Moon’ & ‘Oppenheimer’ Lead BAFTA Awards Longlist Mentions

They aren’t always completely indicative of where The Academy is leaning, but, often, the BAFTA Awards longlists are better early indicators of potential Oscar nominations (and winners) than the BAFTA Awards nominations themselves. In that respect, the 2024 BAFTA Awards longlists are a very good sign for Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” and Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” Each of those films had 15 mentions, followed by Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things” with 14.

‘The Holdovers’ Gives Dominic Sessa A Big Break For The Ages

2023 was a transformative year for Dominic Sessa. Sure, he filmed his first big break, Alexander Payne’s “The Holdovers,” almost two years ago while still in High School, but over the past four months he’s seen that movie become a critical and audience darling all while attending Carnegie Mellon University as an everyday theater major.

Bradley Cooper could be an Oscar loser for the 10th time

Bradley Cooper’s film “Maestro” premiered in Venice this fall, it seemed his moment of glory had finally arrived. The “Hangover” star’s direction of the prestige drama and his performance as famed “West Side Story” composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein were greeted enthusiastically by critics. The pretentious historical movie is, of course, the sort of thing the press tends to rubber-stamp automatically. The picture is about a real person; a big chunk of it was shot in black and white; the main character leads a secret gay life in New York City and ages some 40 years over the course of the story.

Claire Foy On Portraying The “Unfufilled” Mother Of ‘All of Us Strangers’ & Not Being Very Showbiz

This year’s supporting actress race is historically competitive, but one contender who deserves more of a spotlight is Claire Foy. The two-time Emmy and SAG Award winner is heartbreaking as a mother reuniting with her now adult son in Andrew Haigh’s “All of Us Strangers” (still one of the best-reviewed movies of 2023).

Emily Blunt: We Have to Make Barbenheimer Happen Again [Interview]

Emily Blunt understands the power of a blockbuster. She’s been in word-of-mouth wonders such as “Edge of Tomorrow,” surprise hits like “A Quiet Place,” and prestige hits like “Sicario.” But, nothing prepared her (or the world for that matter) for “Barbenheimer.” A meme that became a pop culture phenomenon driving massive box office returns not only for Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie,” but a movie Blunt had a major role in, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” READ MORE: Christopher Nolan on Heath Ledger, Robert Downey, Jr.

The love pairing of flirty, late-era Millennial Harry (Paul Mescal) and the shy, fringe Gen X-er Adam (Andrew Scott) isn’t what you’d necessarily expect in most contemporary gay love affairs, let alone in Andrew Haigh’s sublime new drama, “All of Us Strangers.” But, lonely living in a barely occupied London apartment tower can make for unexpected and literal bedfellows. In the context of the film, it also leads to several intimate cinematic scenes that are both emotionally moving and, well, quite erotic.
