Jungkook of K-pop boyband BTS has topped the Billboard Hot 100 with his solo single ‘Seven’.‘Seven’, which features American rapper Latto, debuted at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 for the chart dated July 29, 2023, blocking Jason Aldean’s ‘Try That in a Small Town’ from the top spot. The single, which Jungkook released on July 14, is the second Hot 100 chart-topper by a South Korean solo artist, following bandmate Jimin with ‘Like Crazy’ in early-April.According to Billboard, ‘Seven’ garnered 21.9 million streams, 6.4 million in airplay audience and 153,000 combined digital and CD singles sold from July 14 to July 20.Aside from the Hot 100, ‘Seven’ also charted at Number Two on Digital Song Sales, Number Four on Streaming Songs, Number 30 on Adult Pop Airplay and Number 33 on Pop Airplay. The #Hot100 top 10 (chart dated July 29, 2023)— billboard charts (@billboardcharts) July 24, 2023‘Seven’ is also Jungkook’s seventh time at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, having previously topped the chart with K-pop boyband BTS six times from 2020 to 2021. Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The BTS Army drove Jung Kook’s first solo single, “Seven,” to No. 1 on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart, a milestone previously reached by fellow member Jimin’s “Like Crazy” three months ago. With 21.9 million streams registered, 6.4 million airplay impressions audience and 153,000 singles sold, the track (which features rapper Latto as a guest artist) came out of the box as a certifiable monster. Country star Jason Aldean doesn’t have a similar Army bolstering him, but does sound like he might be forming a militia in “Try That in a Small Town.” The deeply polarizing song was able to ride a wave of headlines to a No. 2 entry, after it’d spent the last two months not even cracking the lower ranks of the chart, prior to the controversy erupting.

Country music stars Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs simultaneously hold the top two spots on the coveted Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time the genre has sat in those positions in a long time.
The Hot 100 chart is seeing a country music comeback. For the first time in 42 years, country music stars simultaneously hold the top two spots on the coveted music list. Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” remains atop the chart, with Luke Combs’ “Fast Car” coming in a close second. The last time country musicians were on top of the all-genre chart was in 1981.
Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic In case anyone is tempted to think of country music as a one-man phenomenon at present with Morgan Wallen’s seemingly indomitable runs atop multiple charts, Luke Combs has come along to remind everyone that this town is big enough for the both of ’em. They’re now forming a two-man roadblock at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, as, between them, country owns the top two spots on that all-genre charts for the first time in 42 years. Wallen’s smash “Last Night” remains on top of the Hot 100 — no news there, since this is the song’s 14th week at No. 1. But it is a fresh development to have Combs’ cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” cruising close up behind it, moving up one spot to No. 2. It’s the first time the genre has claimed Nos. 1-2 on Billboard’s primary chart since March 1981, when Eddie Rabbitt’s “I Love a Rainy Night” and Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” managed the same crossover-success feat.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Metallica came in strong on this week’s Billboard 200 with a No. 2 bow for the group’s latest album, “72 Seasons,” which came in almost within sight of the chart’s recently indomitable leader, Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time.” Wallen extended his run at No. 1 to seven weeks at a time, and counting, with 166,000 more album-equivalent units added to his tally, while Metallica debuted with 146,000 units. On the Billboard Hot 100, meanwhile, SZA finally landed in the No. 1 spot she’s been circling for many weeks with “Kill Bill.” The song had spent eight weeks at No. 2, then dipped to No. 4 last week, before getting the boost it needed to finally become a chart-topper in this latest frame.
