Last week, Kojima Productions announced that a sequel to their highly successful 2019 videogame “Death Stranding” is in development. Now, this week, more news, but on the cinematic front: Kojima will team up with Hammerstone Studios for a film adaptation of the game.

Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds, a documentary about the creation of Death Stranding, now has an official date for its release on Disney+.After a screening at the Tribeca Film Festival last June, Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds is heading to Disney+ on February 23.The 60 minute film offers “a journey into the creative mind of the most iconic video game designer in the world,” according to the official description, with the documentary following Kojima as he launches his own Kojima Productions studio and creates Death Stranding.“This visually captivating documentary gives a rare insight into Hideo Kojima’s creative process [and] explores the power and potential of video games as an art form through the work of an influential talent revered by millions worldwide.”Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds also features appearances from a number of collaborators and famous fans, including Guillermo del Toro, Nicholas Winding Refn, Grimes, George Miller, Norman Reedus, Woodkid and CHVRCHES. A trailer released last year saw Reedus compare Kojima to Willy Wonka.Kojima started working at Konami in 1986 and went on to design the likes of Metal Gear Solid before launching Kojima Productions in 2011.

Earlier this fall, news dropped that A24 wanted to get into big IP in the near future. And the future is now: the indie studio will team up with Hideo Kojima for a live-action film of the acclaimed video game “Death Stranding.” This follows up news from almost exactly a year ago that Kojima Productions had a film adaptation of their game in the works.

Sony has stated that it had no involvement in getting Death Strandingon PC Game Pass.Despite Sony owning the intellectual property of Death Stranding, the company was not involved in the licensing deal with Microsoft for its PC Game Pass service.In Sony’s statement, a spokesperson outlined the company’s relationship with the deal, stating that “matters relating to the PC release of Death Stranding are managed by Kojima Productions and 505 Games. [Sony] has no involvement in this promotion” (via Push Square).The version of Death Stranding coming to PC Game Pass is not the Director’s Cut which released on PC in March of this year, with the service only receiving the base gamewhich was first released on PC in 2020.As Sony owns the intellectual property for the game, it is currently a console-exclusive for the PlayStation group of platforms.Death Stranding coming to PC Game Pass was teased via some cryptic tweets from the official Game Pass Twitter account before being confirmed by the same account earlier in the week.

Death Stranding, seems to have confirmed a sequel in a recent interview.The interview comes from Leo Edit where Reedus is questioned about Death Stranding when claims “we just started the second one.”When asked about how the collaboration between Reedus and Death Stranding’s director, Hideo Kojima came about, he recalls the story of how the two met through film director Guillermo Del Toro.According to Reedus, Del Toro told him “’Hey, there’s a guy named Hideo Kojima, he’s gonna call you, just say yes.’ And I go, ‘What do you mean just say yes?’ He goes, ‘Stop being an asshole, just say yes.’ Then I was in San Diego and Hideo came with a big group of people, he’s from Tokyo, and he showed me what he was working on on a game called Silent Hill. I was blown away by what he was showing me, and I was like, “Yes, let’s do this.” It’s not Ms.

Kojima Productions could be acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Hideo Kojima has confirmed that his development studio will remain independent.Kojima clarified the status of his studio earlier today (April 15), after he shared an image of an updated PlayStation Studios banner on his Twitter.
