Apple TV+ has moved up the premiere date for Presumed Innocent, its upcoming limited series, starring and executive produced by Jake Gyllenhaal. The series, inspired by Scott Turow’s courtroom thriller, from David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV, will premiere Wednesday, June 12, , just a few days following its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 9. It originally was scheduled to debut on June 14.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Callum Turner has been cast in the lead role of the series adaptation of the William Gibson novel “Neuromancer” at Apple TV+, Variety has learned. The series was originally announced in February. Per the official description, the 10-episode drama follows “a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case (Turner) who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.” This will mark the second starring role in an Apple series for Turner.

BAFTA Award-nominee Callum Turner (Masters of the Air, The Boys in the Boat) is joining Neuromancer, a new 10-episode drama based on the sci-fi novel of the same name by William Gibson.

In a competitive situation, Apple has acquired the rights to Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s upcoming novel Long Island Compromise to develop as a series.

She recently reprised her role of Lady Jessica with Dune: Part Two, and plays the lead role in Silo, Apple TV+‘s dystopian series about a community gone underground following an apocalyptic event. Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer-reluctantly-turned-sheriff, who uncovers alarming secrets while investigating a mysterious death.

Spotify’s premium plans combining music and audiobooks will mean a lower mechanical royalty rate for songwriters on those plans, the company has confirmed, although it claims that earnings for creators will continue to rise.“Spotify is on track to pay publishers and societies more in 2024 than in 2023. As our industry partners are aware, changes in our product portfolio mean that we are paying out in different ways based on terms agreed to by both streaming services and publishers,” the statement reads. “Multiple DSPs have long paid a lower rate for bundles versus a stand-alone music subscription, and our approach is consistent.” The final sentence is in reference to plans offered by Amazon — which offers its music streaming as part of its Prime service — Apple and others.
