Radio Silence is the directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and they first landed on everyone’s radar with their Samara Weaving-led horror-comedy “Ready or Not. That also caught the attention of Spy Glass Media, who tasked them to direct the last two “Scream” installments—a seventh film now getting ready to go in front of cameras in the near future.

pivoted to a new strategy of taking on projects based around filmmakers who have fresh takes on their stable of horror icons like Dracula. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the Radio Silence directors behind the past two “Scream” films and the Searchlight film “Ready or Not,” will direct the new project.

After help relaunch the Scream franchise, filmmaking collective known as Radio Silence have signed on to an Untitled Monster Thriller for Universal Pictures. The group’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett will direct the project with Chad Villella serving as producer alongside William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt at Project X Entertainment.

In the coming days, “Scream VI” will overtake the original 1996 “Scream” ($103 million) as the highest-grossing entry in North America, not adjusted for inflation. Along with Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), “Scream VI” also marks the return of Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, respectively) and “Scream 4” survivor Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere), who now works as an FBI agent and comes to New York after hearing about Ghostface’s return.

Ghostface has moved out of Woodsboro and traveled cross country to terrorize New York City in Scream VI. The beloved horror franchise has been scaring audiences since 1996 and the directors of the latest installment are hopeful Scream VII and more films will come.

In the weeks leading up to its release on March 10, the franchise’s notorious slasher Ghostface has been spotted in various U.S. cities, including Sonoma (the stand-in for the franchise’s fictional town of Woodsboro), New Orleans and St. Louis. Given the state of the world, and those demonic clown sightings in 2016, it’s hardly surprising that the seemingly random presence of a costumed killer has reportedly prompted 911 calls from disturbed bystanders.
