PIP supporting evidence which could improve your chances of making a successful first-time claim to DWP

The latest figures from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show that at the end of July, 2022 there were more than three million people across the UK claiming support through Personal Independence Payments (PIP), an increase of more than 52,000 since April. Just over one in three claimants (35%) are receiving the highest level of award.

Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment are new health benefits which are replacing Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Disability Living Allowance for Children (DLA for Child) for people living in Scotland. The devolved benefits will provide financial support for young children and those between 16 and State Pension age, who are disabled, have a long-term health condition or have a terminal illness.

Low-income families urged to apply for one-off £267 child payment before schools go back next month

The Scottish Government is encouraging families to apply for a grant worth £267.65 which could help with costs when a child is set to start primary school in August and ease the pressure of the rising cost of living. The Best Start Grant School Age Payment provides a one-off lump sum of £267.65 to families who get Tax Credits and certain benefits with children born between March 1, 2017 and February 28, 2018.

People on PIP may need to report move to new disability benefit this summer to DWP

Adult Disability Payment is set to replace Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for new claimants in seven more council areas this month, following on from the recent launch in Angus, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire at the end of June. More than 313, 600 existing PIP claimants in Scotland will start to transfer from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) system to Social Security Scotland this summer, in a move predicted to be completed by the end of summer 2024.

Social Security Scotland has confirmed that it started moving existing Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants to Adult Disability Payment last month. It began the process of transferring cases from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to the new devolved benefit on June 13.
