Phoebe Bridgers has today (May 16) shared a new music video for her track ‘Sidelines’ – listen to it below.The track, which is Bridgers’ first new original music in two years, is the featured track for the new BBC drama Conversations With Friends, based on Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel.Bridgers wrote the track with her bandmate and collaborator Marshall Vore and Ruby Rain Henley. According to a press release, ‘Sidelines’ will be Bridgers’ only original new song release of the year.The music video for ‘Sidelines’ features footage of Bridgers recording the song alongside scenes from the show, which feature actors Joe Alwyn, Alison Oliver, Jemima Kirke and Sasha Lane.

Taylor Swift will likely already be familiar with actor Joe Alwyn, her boyfriend of five years, who has inspired multiple of her songs. Well Joe is a star in his own right as his role in the new BBC Three series Conversations With Friends will prove.The show is a follow up to 2020's immensely successful Normal People and is based on author Sally Rooney's first novel.

Conversation With Friends, a Hulu/BBC miniseries out now. Like the 2020 sensation , this series is adapted from a novel by author Sally Rooney. And like that show, Conversations With Friends is a six-hour advertisement for being depressed in Ireland, with an Anthropologie aesthetic and an almost surreal abundance of sex scenes.Conversation risks bringing together a horny, armchair-philosopher illuminati, three powerful fandoms united in the desire to fuck in oversized knits.

Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Joe Alwyn stars in BBC and Hulu series Conversations with Friends which begins tonight at 10pm.The plot is based on Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name about two students whose lives become intimately entangled with a married couple. Joe, 31, plays the role of Nick Conway, a married actor who gets caught in a web of infidelity. Once again enlisting director Lenny Abrahamson and writer Alice Birch, and once again starring a female actor (Alison Oliver) who resembles author Sally Rooney and a male one specifically poised to become a breakout thirst object (Joe Alwyn), “Conversations With Friends” follows the “Normal People” pattern so closely that it often feels more like a faded impression rather than its own series.

Conversations With Friends, based on a Sally Rooney book, which is out May 15, Alison Oliver’s character Frances moves quietly through life, surveying every situation and person before making a move. In person—or over Zoom, at least—Oliver jumps right into our conversation with a contagious excitement. You can’t blame her. This is a breakthrough role for the 24-year-old Cork, Ireland, native, who graduated from the Lir National Academy of Dramatic Art in Dublin in 2020 and nabbed an audition for Conversations With Friends just a few months later.

Manori Ravindran International EditorIn another major M&A coup, Fremantle has taken a majority stake in Irish production company Element Pictures, the producers of “Normal People,” “Conversations With Friends” and “The Favourite.”Element Pictures has grown to become one of Europe’s top drama producers, and is managed by co-founders Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, with offices in Dublin, London and Belfast.The deal was spearheaded by Fremantle group COO and continental Europe CEO Andrea Scrosati and Lorenzo De Maio, of De Maio Entertainment. The deal represents continued investment in European drama from Fremantle, which is owned by Germany’s RTL Group.

In another mega M&A deal, Fremantle has taken a majority stake in Irish The Favourite, Room and Conversations with Friends producer Element Pictures.

Conversations With Friends and Normal People would have attracted a “tiny audience” if they had been made as features instead of TV shows, according to director Lenny Abrahamson, who said program-makers should trust audiences to enjoy “arthouse TV.”
