And with her latest behind-the-camera effort, “Don’t Worry Darling,” the actress turned filmmaker constructs a sexy and suspenseful thriller. It’s a film that should resonate with moviegoers, who may show up to check out an easy-on-the-eyes ensemble that includes Florence Pugh, Harry Styles and Chris Pine. At the very least, it’s a film that will continue to generate plenty of chatter (there’s already a ton of pre-release headlines being made, some of them even about the movie itself). However, like most popcorn thrillers, the chances of the Academy checking the film off on their ballots is as farfetched as the movie’s attempt to make Harry Styles look unattractive in one critical scene. Nice try but I don’t buy it.

K.J. Yossman Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta’s 60Forty Films has inked an overall deal with Apple TV+, Variety can exclusively reveal. They are already in production on upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series “Hijack,” starring Idris Elba, which they are producing alongside Idiotlamp Productions and Elba’s company Green Door Pictures. “Hijack” tells the story of Sam Nelson (played by Elba), an accomplished business negotiator whose quick-thinking, smooth-talking skills become crucial when the plane he is on is hijacked. Laurenson and Kousetta have worked closely with Apple for a number of years, including on Gary Oldman-starrer “Slow Horses” (pictured above) and “The Essex Serpent,” starring Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston, both of which the duo lead exec produced.

“Saltburn,” the second feature film from writer-director Emerald Fennell, has added Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver and Archie Madekwe to its cast.The trio joins previously announced stars Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike and Barry Keoghan.

Prime Video landed worldwide streaming rights to “Saltburn,” which will also be released in theaters by Amazon Studios and MGM, and then stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Rich Flu.As reported in Variety, Culkin will join Daniel Brühl and Rosamund Pike in the new film, which is directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia.Filming will begin on the project this autumn and it’s described as a “high-concept social thriller in which a deadly disease starts killing off the richest people on the planet,” according to Variety.The description adds: “At first it strikes the billionaires, then the multi-millionaires, and so on. With the whole world panicking and headed for collapse, people are trying to flood the market with assets they no longer want, in hopes of saving their skin.”Gaztelu-Urrutia is directing Rich Flu from a script he co-wrote with Pedro Rivero, who he’d previously worked with on The Platform, as well as David Desola and Sam Steiner.Culkin had his breakthrough role in the Home Alone franchise and starred in other 90s films such as The Good Son, My Girl and Richie Rich. After taking a break from acting, he returned with roles in 2003’s Party Monster and 2007’s Sex and Breakfast.

Blakeson is coming off writing and directing the dark satirical thriller I Care A Lot, which starred Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage, Eiza Gonzales and Dianne Weist. The film premiered at 2020 Toronto and was released last February by Netflix in the US and Amazon Prime in the UK, with Pike winning the Golden Globe. He is currently in production on Culprits, the Disney+ limited series he created. Blakeson is head writer and lead director and EP alongside Character 7’s Stephen Garrett. Blakeson had been repped by CAA.
