Yossman Marianne Jean-Baptiste (“Boxing Day”), Alistair Petrie (“Sex Education”), Romola Garai (“The Hour”) have joined BBC drama series “The Following Events Are Based On A Pack Of Lies.”Rounding out the cast are Rebekah Staton (“Raised by Wolves”), Derek Jacobi (“Last Tango in Halifax”), Julian Barratt (“The Mighty Boosh”), Karl Johnson (“Hot Fuzz”) and Ellie Haddington (“Enola Holmes”).Robbie McKillop (“Guilt”) and Nicole Charles (“Hair Power: Me and My Afro”) will split directing duties on the series, which was created and written by Penelope Skinner and Ginny Skinner.Production has already begun on the series, which will be distributed internationally by BBC Studios.“This is the story of two very different women and the conman they have in common; a dark, funny, and unpredictable thriller about three remarkable characters trapped in a tangled triangle of complexly layered half-truths and lies of epic proportions,” reads the logline.

The life of Elizabeth Tudor is going under the microscope once again in the upcoming Starz period drama Becoming Elizabeth, but this time, producers are diving into lesser known parts of history. New images from the series can be found below.

Starz has rounded out its cast for Becoming Elizabeth, its eight-episode drama series chronicling the early years of Queen Elizabeth I. Romola Garai (The Hour), Jessica Raine (The Informer), Tom Cullen (Weekend) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) are among 14 cast members joining Alicia Von Rittberg in the Lionsgate-owned Starz series from UK producer The Forge. The series is a co-production of Lionsgate Television and The Forge.

Actress Romola Garai makes a distinctive feature directorial debut with “Amulet,” even if this upscale horror drama is ultimately more impressive in the realm of style than substance. It’s some style, though: She hasn’t just created a stylish potboiler, but a densely textured piece that makes for a truly arresting viewing experience to a point. A shame then that the film succumbs somewhat to the more pretentious and silly aspects of Garai’s initially cryptic puzzle of a script.
