Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas has responded to one of his tracks being featured in the Barbie movie.The American singer-songwriter reflected on Matchbox Twenty’s song ‘Push’ being featured in the Greta Gerwig film, and confirmed that he was fine with the movie poking fun at the 1997 hit.The moment in film comes after Ken – played by Ryan Gosling – returns to the Barbie world after paying a visit to the human world and discovering the patriarchy. From there, he transforms the female-dominated Barbie world into a hyper-masculine “Kendom”, rife with everything associated with toxic masculinity.‘Push’ is then the song that he, as well as all the other Kens, serenade the Barbies with on the beach – with the rendition lasting for literal hours.While the moment is meant to poke fun at the ’90s band for being ‘the ultimate bro band’, as it turns out, the frontman is completely fine with his song being used as the butt of the joke.“I want to preface this by saying that I thought it was hilarious,” he said while speaking to USA Today, also referencing another time his band was used as a joke in a Hollywood blockbuster.

After a visit to the real world, Gosling's Ken transformed the land into «Kendom,» a patriarchal world filled with all the things he thinks make a man — horses, sports, Sylvester Stallone style and very much included. Speaking about the song's use in the film, Thomas told he was initially worried that the rock group might become the butt of a joke.

There are a ton of potential takeaways from the Barbie movie, but one unexpected result of seeing the film is having Matchbox Twenty’s “Push” stuck in your head.

The biggest songwriting camp in the world, Anti Social Camp is free of charge and will feature 100 recording sessions, as well as a calendar of shows and parties. Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Ken Marino credits his pal Adam Scott for making the unlikely and unexpected “Party Down” revival a reality. “Adam helped guide this and make this happen in a real way,” he tells Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast. “I think everybody in that cast recognized how special it was, and to just kind of go back and to get to do some more, to be with these people again, creatively, it’s a real gift.” The first two seasons of “Party Down” aired on Starz in 2009 and 2010; the revival takes place a decade after the show’s last episode and features the returns of Marino as Ron, the slightly clueless catering manager who now owns the business — well, running it out of his van — and Scott as Henry, the sardonic failed actor who’s now a teacher and working on the side with Party Down to help pay for his alimony.

All this time, while promoting the third season of the cater-waiter cult comedy — which returned to Starz 13 years after its initial cancellation — the cast and co-creators have fielded questions about the absence of Lizzy Caplan, the only original star to not appear in Season 3.  “Lizzy was booked throughout the entire window that we had,” creator and EP John Enbom previously told Variety. “She was very bummed that she was not able to join us. And we were bummed, too — we really liked working with her.”

Based on the popular French series of the same name, the show follows a single mom with three kids and an exceptional mind helps solve an unsolvable crime when she rearranges some evidence during her shift as a cleaner for the police department. Per the official logline, “When they discover she has a knack for putting things in order because of her high intellectual potential she is brought on as a consultant to work with a by-the-book seasoned detective, and together they form an unusual and unstoppable team.”
