EXCLUSIVE: Evan Peters, one of Ryan Murphy’s go-to actors, is set as the title character in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a Netflix limited series co-created by longtime collaborators Murphy and Ian Brennan, Deadline has learned. Another actor from the Ryan Murphy TV universe, Niecy Nash, is set to star in the seres, which also has cast Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun Brown and Colin Ford, sources said. They join previously announced Richard Jenkins.

Ryan Murphy has set up his next limited series at Netflix and he’ll be following the story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

Ryan Murphy is continuing their tradition of bringing terrifying programming to the masses with a new limited series about the notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Netflix has greenlit Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story limited series from Murphy and Ian Brennan, according to Deadline.  Richard Jenkins (Six Feet Under) will co-star with Carl Franklin (Mindhunter) and Janet Mock (Pose) writing and directing the series.

The complexities and ultimate similarities of American life play out in “The Last Shift.” A 2020 Sundance selection, the film became a buzzworthy project thanks to outstanding lead actors along with a carefully crafted storyline for these times. Its overall sensibilities and emphasis on realism is evidence of a director and writer with deep roots in documentary filmmaking.

Breaking Fast (★★★★☆). Mo marks the handsome Lebanese star’s first romantic lead among a plethora of film and TV roles following his big-screen breakthrough opposite Richard Jenkins in the poignant 2008 drama The Visitor.

Miranda July's heist comedy Kajillionaire will be released in theaters in June, while the upcoming horror pic Come Play will hit the big screen in July, Focus Features said Tuesday. Kajillionaire, which debuted in January at the Sundance Film Festival and stars Evan Rachel Wood, Debra Winger, Richard Jenkins and Gina Rodriguez, is set to open June 19 in North America.

“The Last Shift,” a fast-food tragedy written and directed by Andrew Cohn, is a gut punch with a side of anguish. In this wonderfully sad small-town drama, the ever-empathetic Richard Jenkins plays Stan, a former high school athlete who took the graveyard shift at local chain Oscar’s Chicken and Fish in 1971 and never left.

It's easy to see why documentary and TV director Andrew Cohn's first narrative feature, The Last Shift, was at one time considered as a project for Alexander Payne, who remains on board as executive producer. Empathy for aging men navigating complicated crossroads in their unfulfilled lives has often shaped Payne's films and very much applies to the terminal under-achiever played here with characteristic dimension and heart by the ever-reliable Richard Jenkins.
