Why Princess Charlotte has a greater chance of becoming Queen than Princess Anne ever did

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth, the country does not look set to have another Queen Regnant for many years as the next two heirs to the throne are male. The first female in the queue is eight-year-old Princess Charlotte who sits in third place behind her father and elder brother. While it is incredibly unlikely that Princess Charlotte will ever come to the throne, it is fair to say that she stands a far better chance of wearing the crown that her great aunt Princess Anne ever did, despite being in an incredibly similar set of circumstances at birth. The reason behind this is down to a significant change the late Queen introduced which alters the rules of primogeniture and who can overtake who in the Line of Succession. The adaptation to the rule meant that Princess Charlotte was not leapfrogged by younger brother Prince Louis when he was born in 2018.

'Meghan was naive saying royals were too formal in private - they are just like any family'

The recent appearance of the Princess Royal and the Prince and Princess of Wales on Mike Tindall's podcast 'The Good, the Bad and the Rugby' served to prove that the Royal Family are great fun behind closed doors and enjoy everything from playing beer pong to racing in barefoot to cold water swimming. This clear sense of fun and informality jars with claims made by Meghan Markle on her and Prince Harry's Netflix series that the Royal Family are standoffish in private. She said: "I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside. That there is a forward-facing way of being and then you close the door and 'phew I can relax now' but that formality carries over on both sides.

Disgraced Prince Andrew was original ‘spare’ — but also Queen Elizabeth’s favorite: ‘Secrets’

the OG “spare” is actually Prince Andrew.A new A&E documentary, “Secrets of Prince Andrew,” has revealed why the scandal-ridden Duke of York has always been considered the late Queen Elizabeth’s “favorite” child as well as the original surplus prince.“We know from Prince Harry that the ‘spare’ creates an idea of resentment and jealousy,” British biographer Andrew Lownie said.“[Prince] Andrew was an accident waiting to happen for years.”The Post has reached out to reps at Buckingham Palace for comment.Andrew, 63, was always rumored to be the long-reigning monarch’s most loved and most treasured son, despite not being the firstborn. As the third child of the queen — who died in September 2022 at the age of 96 — and her late husband, Prince Philip, he was second in line to the throne at the time of his birth in 1960.“His birth was celebrated as he was the next male heir, despite [his sister Princess] Anne being [born] second,” journalist Dickie Arbiter said in the doc. “If [King] Charles died, then Andrew would be the one directly in line to succeed him.”He added that the queen had already settled into her life as a mother by the time Andrew came along, as she had given birth to Anne in 1950 and Charles just two years earlier.“Courtiers” author Valentine Low interjected and pointed out how she was an “indulgent” mother to Andrew, and with him, she could “sit back a bit” to enjoy motherhood.
