‘We Can Be Heroes’ Review: Role Playing Meets Teen Therapy In This Oddly Compelling LARPing Doc [SXSW]

For anyone in the midst of, or having previously endured, the pains associated with the salad days of youth, that time-honored tradition of finding one’s unique voice while attempting to entrench oneself within the local population of similarly-aged peers as new feelings and emotions emerge on a seemingly daily basis is, at best, an uphill battle. At worst, it can serve to cripple a developing soul in ways adults may struggle to comprehend fully; it is for these reasons that any successes along the way need not be ignored but celebrated; friendships with like-minded individuals and membership in groups catered to one’s passions are more than a hallmark of these undeniably short years and could be seen as wholly necessary to a developing personality.

‘Let It Be’: Long-Unavailable Beatles Documentary Restored By Peter Jackson Arriving In May

The filmmaker has restored “Let It Be,” director Michael Lindsay-Hogg’s original 1970 film about The Beatles, and Disney+ will release the movie on May 8, 2024, the first time the film has been readily available in 50 years.

The Beatles’ 1970 ‘Let It Be’ documentary to be re-released on Disney+

The Beatles’ classic 1970 documentary film Let It Be on May 8, NME can exclusively announce. The film, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, was first released in cinemas 54 years ago and has been difficult to obtain since – prompting considerable bootlegging. It features footage of the Fab Four while they were writing and recording their 12th and final studio album of the same name in January 1969 at London’s Twickenham Film Studios.Later in the film, the band moves to the headquarters of their company Apple Corps on Savile Row for further rehearsals and the iconic rooftop concert – the four Beatles’ last performance together as a group. As he did for the 2022 docuseries Get Back, which features extra archive material from the Let It Be shoot, acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson has used state-of-the-art digital technology to restore the 55-year-old film reels to crisp, modern quality.“Over the years, the original [film] print probably hasn’t been looked after that well and it didn’t look that good anymore,” Lindsay-Hogg told NME.

William Earl administrator Minutes into the medieval intro of “The Faceless Lady,” a fair maiden rips off her face. You immediately feel a bit nauseated. But did the violence trigger that reaction — or is it the fact that the action seems to be happening somewhere deep in your visual cortex? “The Faceless Lady,” a collaboration between Meta and producer Eli Roth, is billed as “the first known scripted original VR live action, stereoscopic (3D) series ever produced of its size.” Although it’s designed for the Meta’s Quest headset, the story and scope seem wide enough to exist out of the headset.

The Beatles top charts with ‘Now And Then’ – 60 years after first Number One

The Beatles have topped the charts with their “final” track ‘Now And Then’ – six decades after they secured their first Number One.Released earlier this month, the track was billed as the last song from the Fab Four and stemmed from an old John Lennon demo tape – completed by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr with the help of AI.It also came alongside both a short video documenting their time completing the project and a Peter Jackson-directed music video that included previously unearthed footage of the band. Now it has been confirmed that the long-awaited track has gone on to top the charts – 60 years since the band claimed their first Number One track. This feat means that McCartney and co. now boast the longest period between an artist’s first and last Number One single – with their first being ‘From Me to You’ in May 1963 (60 years and six months ago).

More new music from The Beatles “conceivable”, says Peter Jackson

Peter Jackson has suggested that more new music from The Beatles is “conceivable”, following his work on ‘Now And Then’.The filmmaker – who is most famed as the director of Lord Of The Rings – opened up about his time working on the new Beatles track in an interview with The Sunday Times, and suggested that he hasn’t fully ruled out the chance of more new releases in the future. It comes as he worked with surviving members of the group, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, to help bring the “final” track to life; by developing a music video for the song using new footage of the surviving members and unearthed clips of the whole band. Before the music video, which was shared last Friday (November 3), he had also worked with the band on the eight-hour docu-series, Get Back, which was released in 2021.Looking back at his time working on both Beatles projects, Jackson said that he thinks it is “conceivable” that more new music from the band could be developed.“We can take a performance from Get Back, separate John and George, and then have Paul and Ringo add a chorus or harmonies,” he told the outlet, reflecting on the series which saw him sift through 60 hours of footage and 150 hours of audio.“You might end up with a decent song,” he added.

The Beatles’ ‘Now And Then’ on track to become 18th Number One single

The Beatles‘ “final” song, ‘Now And Then‘, is on track to become the band’s 18th Number One single.‘Now And Then’ – the last single to feature all four original members – came out last Thursday (November 2), with a Peter Jackson-directed music video featuring newly unearthed footage of the members arriving the next day.The track debuted at number 42 in the UK last week – based on just 10 hours of sales – and is already outselling the top five, according to Official Charts. But it’s now expected to climb to Number One when Friday’s (November 10) Official Singles Chart is announced. It could also mean the band’s first chart-topping single in 54 years, with the last being 1969’s ‘The Ballad Of John And Yoko’.The track came to light thanks to a demo tape recorded by late bandmate John Lennon, completed by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr along with the help of AI which lifted the songwriter’s vocals off the initial recording. The project was first teased by McCartney back in June when he confirmed that he was working on a new track with the drummer, which would serve as the “final” song of the band’s discography.Starr recently shared that working on the single was “like having John Lennon back”.Jackson’s visual accompaniment also includes archived footage of the Fab Four.

John Lennon croons ‘I miss you’ on new Beatles song ‘Now and Then’ — and you’ll feel the same: review

“Now and Then”arrives like a gift from that glorious Abbey Road in the sky on Thursday — despite the fact that John Lennon and George Harrison died in 1980 and 2001, respectively, leaving surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to finish the long-buried track on the right side of the dirt. And if you think that it’s the result of some magical mystery trickery of AI defiling the sacred ground that is the Beatles back catalog, thankfully, you’d be wrong. While “the last Beatles song” certainly benefits from advancements in technology that allowed it to finally be released — five decades after Lennon wrote and recorded the demo at his Dakota residence on New York’s Central Park West in the ’70s — “Now and Then” is a real Beatles tune that feels like it somehow got stuck in some mop-topped time warp before the “Imagine” singer was murdered in 1980. It’s a nostalgic trip back to the Baby Boomer glory days of yesteryear.
