On Friday, Mike Hadreas a.k.a. Perfume Genius will share his new album Ugly Season. The new music was created more collaboratively than ever before, beginning as a soundtrack for a dance piece by Kate Wallich and Hadreas called The Sun Still Burns Here with producer Blake Mills and Hadreas's partner Alan Wyffels contributing to the composition.

Apple TV's new prestige drama series The New Look features a soundtrack that's assembled and produced by Jack Antonoff, the in-demand pop savant who just won at the 2024 Grammys for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical (his third Grammy in that category and 10th overall). The soundtrack collects covers of classic songbook standards from modern pop giants, and today's track comes from Perfume Genius, the singer-songwriter born Mike Hadreas.

Perfume Genius has shared a moody and eerie cover of Gloria Gaynor’s disco classic ‘I Will Survive’.Sharing the cover via his newsletter, Perfume Genius – real name Mike Hadreas – said he had recorded his version of the song at home, and had intended it for a commercial pitch.“I recorded this at home for a commercial pitch, but they didn’t give me the money,” Hadreas wrote.“I suppose the cover is a little deathbed-y, I was very serious that day, but i like how it turned out.
