In today’s episode of The Discourse, host Mike DeAngelo speeds his way through the DC Universe with director Andy Muschietti & producer Barbara Muschietti (“IT,” “Mama”). The talented duo is promoting their latest film, “The Flash,” which follows Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) discovering that his speed unlocks the ability to change the past that has haunted him and, in turn, plunges him into another timeline where many of the heroes he knows do not exist.

Releasing on June 16th, the DC film hailed by James Gunn as one of the greatest superhero movies ever made finds Ezra Miller getting their own solo movie, complete with crossover into multiple eras of DC films in dream team-ups that we never thought were possible, such as bringing back Michael Keaton as Batman (and plenty more cameos).

Gotham Knights has been cancelled after just one season.The DC Comics-based drama was one of three scripted CW series which were facing the axe along with Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming, which have both been renewed.Despite being a “respectable ratings performer” since it was premiered in March, the show has now been cancelled, according to Deadline.It is believed that under different circumstances, the show could have made it to a second season but, with the business model of the CW changing under its new ownership, only a handful of existing scripted series could make the cut.Gotham Knights, which was written by the Batwoman trio of Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams, picked up in the aftermath of Bruce Wayne’s murder, with his rebellious adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) forging an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies – Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), Harper Row (Fallon Smythe), and her brother Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara) when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader.A synopsis for the show, when it was first announced, added: “As the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names.

The film is a sequel to Burton’s 1988 classic about a family in their new home and the married ghost couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) trying to dispel them. The family’s curious goth teenage daughter, Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder), is the only human able to see the ghosts. After befriending them, Lydia soon finds herself mixed up in horrors and complexities of the afterlife. In 2013, Ryder addressed the possibility of a “Beetlejuice 2.” She told the Daily Beast, “It’s not a remake. It’s 27 years later. And I have to say, I love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later.”
