Charna Flam Focus Features has released the first official trailer for “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3,” offering a look at the latest Portokalos party. Star Nia Vardalos returns as the screenwriter for the third film and, for the first time, serves as the latest entry’s director. Vardalos will lead the film alongside her former and returning co-stars John Corbett, Louis Mandylor, Elena Kampouris, Maria Vacratsis, Andrea Martin, Gia Carides, Joey Fatone and Lainie Kazan. A couple of new faces have joined the cast, including Elias Kacavas and Melina Kotselou. After Michael Constantine, who played Toula’s father Gus, died in 2021, the third film will pay tribute to the late actor.

The original film was a comedy about a Greek woman named Toula who falls in love with a non-Greek man (John Corbett) and is forced to awkwardly introduce him to her large Greek family and their specific cultural customs.

Carson Burton “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” has started filming in Athens, Greece. The franchise’s writer and star Nia Vardalos made the announcement on her  Instagram page, and she also revealed that she is directing this third installment. The film will mark Vardalos’ next feature directorial outing after 2009’s “I Hate Valentine’s Day.”“We are in Greece filming ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3’ and thank you for all the lovely messages of just waiting,” Vardalos said.
