Amazon isn’t putting Fallout back in the vaults.
Walton Goggins, in a gruesome starring role in Prime Video’s apocalyptic sci-fi series Fallout, said he knew he knew he was in for “an intense experience” having to transform every day on set into The Ghoul, a post-human character with melting flesh, a cowboy persona and some semblance of his humanity still left.
Prime Video’s “Fallout” is here. Now streaming, “Fallout” is similar to HBO’s Emmy-winning “The Last Of Us” in the sense that it’s also a dystopian series based on a popular video game. Aside from the inevitable comparisons, “Fallout” is different enough to stand on its own.
Jordan Moreau After starting out as a post-apocalyptic video game series, “Fallout” is finally stepping out of the vault and onto TV screens. From Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the masterminds behind HBO’s “Westworld,” Prime Video’s “Fallout” takes viewers back to the 1960s before blowing things up — literally. A jaw-dropping nuclear explosion, rivaling the skull-rattling blast seen in Nolan’s brother Christopher’s best picture winner “Oppenheimer,” kicks off the series, before then jumping over 200 years into the future.
Three months after it was renewed for season five, HBO abruptly changed course and suddenly canceled “Westworld” last year, the dystopian science-fiction series by creator Jonathan Nolan (co-writer on ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy) and his wife and creative partner Lisa Joy. “Westworld” wasn’t cheap to make; the ten-episode first season was reportedly produced on a budget of approximately $100 million, with per-episode budgets somewhere between $8 million to $10 million, and the pilot episode alone costing $25 million to produce.
Michaela Zee “Fallout” is stepping out of the vault earlier than originally planned. Prime Video has announced that “Fallout,” adapted from the retro-futuristic video game franchise of the same name, will premiere all eight episodes on April 10 at 6 p.m. PT.

It seems like Fallout season 2 might already be confirmed by Amazon’s Prime Video, days ahead of the season one premiere.
Just days before its debut, Fallout looks to be assured a second season thanks to a $25 million tax credit from California.
Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer “Fallout,” the post-apocalyptic series debuting this week on Amazon Prime, is expected to relocate to California for its second season, thanks to $25 million in California tax credits. The California Film Commission announced Monday that it has awarded $152 million in tax incentives to a dozen TV shows. The list also includes two shows from Ryan Murphy, “Dr.

While you have names like Weiss and Benioff (“Game Of Thrones”), the Duffer Brothers (“Stranger Things”), and Noah Hawley (“Fargo”), there aren’t that many writers/directors/showrunner auteurs in television. However, one recent pair to surface is Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the creators of “Westworld.” In the middle of their run on HBO’s “Westworld,” the pair signed a lucrative deal with Amazon Studios.
The “Fallout” franchise is one of the most beloved in video game history. Not only is it just a solid franchise with amazing gameplay, but it’s also one of the most mythologically rich franchises in the medium.

Bonjour, Insiders. Jesse Whittock with you as another busy week in entertainment land draws to a close. Max and I were in Lille France for Series Mania for most of it, where encountered everything from Hollywood stars to raging rioters. Read on and sign up for the newsletter here.
Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International Lisa Joy, showrunner of “Westworld” and “The Peripheral,” says the Writers’ Guild of America is “acting for [writers’] collective good” in its negotiations with studios, even if it could potentially lead to a strike in May. Joy, who runs production company Kilter Films, is being honored at French TV drama festival Series Mania this week. She took part in a keynote conversation on Wednesday, at which she quipped that a strike will mean “more time with my kids.” “It’s a little stressful because I’ve reached a point where I can manage without work for a while,” said Joy. “As it is, we have shows coming out and we’re in the editing process. We have a rotation of shows that aren’t dependent on writing at the phase they’re in. But I always stand by the decision of the Writers’ Guild — I know they’re acting for our collective good.”
The issues Westworld was exploring went from “sci-fi to documentary film” through the years, according to co-creator Lisa Joy, who hinted at what a fifth season of the HBO smash could have looked like.
Ben Croll Based in the northern French town of Lille since 2018, Series Mania has emerged as a key showcase for premium series and a spotlight for international creators — though, given the wider forces shaping the TV business, that spotlight has often shone on talent from the same three or four territories. And so, when programming the latest edition, the Series Mania brass looked to widen the field. “This year, we will introduce our attendees to new narrative modes and visual possibilities,” says general director Laurence Herszberg. “Because we’ve discovered so many series from countries that haven’t often attended the major festivals, with creative outputs that are much lesser-known. We want to celebrate them as well.”
Prime Video has picked up a second season of The Peripheral, the Chloë Grace Moretz starrer that’s based on the best-selling novel of the same name by William Gibson.
Media vet and Emmy-nominated producer Evan Shapiro will keynote this year’s Mip TV in April.
Lisa Joy, the Emmy-nominated writer, director and producer of shows like Westworld and Pushing Daisies, has been selected as Jury President for this year’s Series Mania Festival and its International Competition.
James Marsden is opening up about the cancellation of Westworld after four seasons on HBO.
EXCLUSIVE: Two other original scripted series, Westworld and The Nevers, are coming off HBO Max. Unlike others that we have reported on, Lionsgate TV’s Minx and Love Life and Sony TV’s Gordita Chronicles, Westworld and The Nevers are high-end Warner Bros. Discovery productions for HBO proper, and I hear they are likely to resurface on other company platforms. WBD CEO David Zaslav has spoken about entering the thriving FAST channel space, so Westworld and The Nevers would likely be offered in that form, I hear.
EXCLUSIVE: Poppy Corby-Tuech (Fantastic Beasts) has signed with Buchwald for representation.
