British filmmaker Jeymes Samuel recently made waves with his action-packed western “The Harder They Fall” which focused on iconic black figures of the old west. Samuel is looking to reunite with Netflix for his next project, a superhero film based on Boom! Comics properties “Irredeemable” and its spinoff, “Incorruptible.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is aiming to combine the two comics into a single film with Samuel directing and screenwriter Kemp Powers tackling the script.

The 4x Emmy nominated creator and star of HBO’s Insecure, Issa Rae, will have a voiceover in Sony’s sequel to its Oscar-winning feature, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Deadline has confirmed.

Issa Rae will lend her voice for Sony Pictures Animation’s sequel to the studio’s Oscar-winning feature, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” to be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K.

Pixar’s critically acclaimed 23rd film, “Soul,” surprised no one by winning two Oscars at the 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday night. The critical and audience favorite not only won the Animated Feature Oscar but took the Original Score category as well.

While many comic book fans were excited by the release of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” in 2018, no one could have expected just how universally acclaimed the film would go on to be, eventually securing the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Almost immediately, a sequel was put into development, with producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller returning to shepherd a new adventure with the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales.

Nomadland and for Promising Young Woman, both of whom were , alongside Regina King for One Night In Miami… Though King was not nominated by the Academy, her film did garner a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for Kemp Powers. Regina King has seen the discourse. She knows that some pundits, critics, and others have criticized her new Best Picture contender, “One Night in Miami,” for feeling at times like a “filmed play.” In reality, screenwriter Kemp Powers did adapt his own play for the screen, but in her view, it’s reductive.

If you thought Pixar’s resume couldn’t get any more impressive, “Soul“—the studio’s upcoming release about passion, music, and a soul-in-training—will prove you wrong. That’s no small task.

In the age of Covid-19, release dates, might be fluid, but release dates and trailers essentially have symbiotic relationships. New date? A new trailer, especially when that date is fixed and no longer beholden to the vagaries of Covid-19 susceptible theaters.

Based on the 2013 stage play by Kemp Powers, the movie is set on the night of February 25, 1964, and follows a young Cassius Clay (Eli Goree)— before he became Muhammad Ali— as he emerges from the Miami Beach Convention Center the new World Heavyweight Boxing Champion.
