Michael Nordine author“You’re not gonna like the way this story ends,” announces the teenage narrator of “Don’t Make Me Go” as the film opens, “but I think you’re gonna like the story.” The first half of that sentence is so accurate it complicates the second. The movie’s ending is misguided to the point of being perplexing rather than upsetting, recasting everything that came before it in a less favorable light.

Netflix’s decision to cancel Cowboy Bebop after one season.The live-action adaptation of the 1998 anime series was released last November but was abruptly cancelled by Netflix three weeks later following negative reviews.Cho, who played lead character Spike Spiegel, has since addressed the show’s end to The Hollywood Reporter where he recalled how production shut down for months after he tore his ACL while on set in New Zealand.“I put a lot of my life into it,” Cho said. “I’d gotten injured shooting that show and so I took a year off because of the surgery and devoted myself to rehab, came back and finished the show.“It was this huge mountain for me to climb, healing from that injury. I felt good about myself as a result.

EXCLUSIVE: After several fits and starts, the next Star Trek film is gearing up to begin production by year’s end. Paramount has begun talks with Chris Pine to reprise as James T. Kirk, and the intention is to engage to bring back aboard Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Lieutenant Uhura, Karl Urban as Dr. Bones McCoy, John Cho as Sulu and Simon Pegg as Scotty. Deadline revealed last summer that Paramount and producer JJ Abrams hired Matt Shakman to direct, fresh from the triumph of the Marvel/Disney+ series WandaVision, just after the series was nominated for 23 Emmys. Shakman has been supervising a draft by Josh Friedman and Cameron Squires, based off a draft by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
