Specialty film rollouts continues to accelerate with Chinonye Chukwu’s Till, Park Chan-wook’s Decision To Leave and A24’s Stars At Noon joining releases from previous weeks to populate theaters as awards season gathers steam.  

Whoopi Goldberg has slammed a film critic for claiming she wore a "fat suit" in the new movie Till. During an appearance on The View on Monday, the Sister Act actress called out an unnamed reviewer who made a comment about her wearing a "distracting fat suit" to portray Emmett Till's grandmother, Alma Carthan, in the biographical feature. However, during a conversation on the talk show, Whoopi noted that she wasn't wearing a fat suit and looked different because she had suffered a variety of health issues in the lead-up to production beginning in September 2021.

Till directed by Chinonye Chukwu and written by Chukwu, Keith Beauchamp, and Michael Reilly follows Mamie Till, a woman who moved the nation with her resilience in the face of her teenage son’s death. The film stars Danielle Deadwyler, Jalyn Hall, Whoopi Goldberg, and Haley Bennett.

The stars of Till are stepping out to promote their highly-anticipated new movie.

Clayton Davis Jennifer Fox, the Oscar nominated producer of “Michael Clayton” (2007), has been tapped to produce the 13th Governors Awards for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Marking her fourth time producing the event, Fox will assemble the annual ceremony where Euzhan Palcy, Diane Warren and Peter Weir will receive Honorary Oscars and Michael J. Fox will accept the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. “We’re thrilled to have Jennifer back at the helm to help us kick off Oscar season with a tribute fitting to these four extraordinary individuals,” says Janet Yang, Academy President. “Her contribution in past years has only elevated this truly special and joyous event.”

Emmett Till’s tragic life story is coming to the big screen. On Monday, MGM studios released the trailer for "Till" which shares Till’s abduction and lynching when he was 14 years old in Mississippi in 1955. "Till" will debut at the 60th New York Film Festival in Lincoln Center.The exact date has not yet been shared.

Such an interaction violated the racist code of behavior in the Jim Crow-era South.Donham told her husband, Roy Bryant, about the alleged encounter.

When Wright wanted to tell the story with Peter Dinklage in the starring role, he called on production designer Sarah Greenwood to scout for locations – Notto, in Scilly, would be the perfect location.Wright also had ideas for makeup and even the film’s choreography – minimal was key.“Cyrano’s” makeup designer Alessandro Bertolazzi says he used just one shade of red for the film’s makeup.

There’s a fascinating rhythm, and most definitely visually, to Joe Wright’s filmography, and a lot of that has to do with the filmmaker’s longstanding working relationship with DP Seamus McGarvey.
