Lindsay Blake Horror fans rejoiced when it was announced in late September that filming of the fifth installment of the highly successful “Scream” franchise had finally gotten underway after a four-month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All hands are on deck for the shoot, including OG cast members Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette, who are reprising their roles as Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Deputy Dewey Riley, respectively.

He joins franchise castmembers David Arquette and Courteney Cox who’ll reprise their respective roles as Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers, as well as newcomer Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega.

While for most she will always be known as Monica Geller but Courteney Cox had another iconic character which fans couldn't get enough of. As news reporter Gale Weathers, Cox won hearts in the horror genre with the popular Scream franchise.

David Arquette couldn't be more excited to reunite with his ex-wife, Courteney Cox, for ET spoke to the 48-year-old actor on Wednesday, and he talked about Cox recently officially announcing that she's reprising her role as Gale Weathers.Arquette announced in May he will also reprise his role as Sheriff Dewey Riley. Arquette told ET he still loves working with Cox, with whom he shares 16-year-old daughter Coco.

Courteney Cox is officially headed back to the franchise.

Earlier this year it was announced that the “Scream” franchise would get the “legacyquel” treatment, with “Ready or Not” filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence resurrecting the franchise with a new film. We’d already heard that David Arquette was returning to reprise the role of Dewey Riley.
