It’s not every day that a small Australian crime indie starring Eric Bana gets a sequel, but here we are. Today, IFC Film unveiled the gripping trailer for their thriller “Force of Nature: The Dry 2,” a sequel to the 2020 Aussie crime film “The Dry.” This heart-pounding sequel, based on Jane Harper’s best-selling novels, stars the aforementioned Bana, reprising his role as Australian Federal Agent Aaron Folk.

The strike is also forcing adjustments at the Melbourne International Film Festival, which starts in early August. “It is with some regret, but a large amount of conviction that we have decided to postpone the release of ‘Force of Nature: The Dry 2’,” said Bana, who both stars and produces through his Pick Up Truck Pictures.

Brent Lang Executive Editor Poppy Delevingne will star in “The Gun on Second Street,” a new drama from writer, producer, and director Rohit Karn Batra.  The film is described as “an allegory of the gun crisis in the United States.” Its plot follows two Pittsburgh police partners and best friends who are called to an uneventful domestic violence dispute on Second Street. This quickly escalates to a violent confrontation as Officer TJ Meadows III accidentally shoots and kills his partner, Officer Kevin Cooper, with his backup gun. Years later, no longer a cop and still traumatized, he moves back to Pittsburgh and finds his way to his partner’s widow, Kacie (Delevingne). They slowly fall in love as Kacie confronts the history she’s been avoiding, including telling her 15-year-old son, Ralph, TJ’s back-story.

“Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers” are back.Not the beloved syndicated television series, which ran for three seasons and 65 episodes from 1989 to 1990 as part of the Disney Afternoon weekday programming block, mind you, but the live-action/animated adventure directed by The Lonely Island’s Akiva Schaffer. This new movie takes place in a world where Chip (John Mulaney) and Dale (Andy Samberg) were stars of that long-ago TV show and have now grown apart, improbably brought together to solve a mystery that personally impacts their cartoon world (Monterey Jack, now voiced by Eric Bana, is missing).

In the 2009 adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s novel “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” the titular time traveler Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana, soulful) explains that it works like gravity, big events pull him in. Opposite him sits the love of his life Clare (Rachel McAdams, radiant), who exclaims, “I was a big event.” “So it would seem,” he replies.
