From the moment Tribeca Festival (no longer just film!) dropped its TV lineup, one title caught our eye: Steven Sodebergh’s “Full Circle.” His latest Max original, another reteaming with “Mosaic” and “No Sudden Move” writer Ed Solomon, looked like just the kind of miniseries sensation the summer needs. We’ll have a full review of the series later, but here’s what we learned at Tribeca — both from the first two episodes and the Q&A that followed.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter David Oyelowo and Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming Paramount+ series “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” has added four recurring cast members. Dale Dickey (“Winter’s Bone,” “Breaking Bad”), Mo Brings Plenty (“Yellowstone,” “The Good Lord Bird”), Tosin Morohunfola (“Run The World,” “Everything’s Trash”), and Margot Bingham (“The Walking Dead,” “She’s Gotta Have It”) have all joined the series. They join previously announced series lead David Oyelowo as well as cast members Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, and Demi Singleton. Dennis Quaid, Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Rob Morgan, Ryan O’Nan, Grantham Coleman, Donald Sutherland, and Justin Hurtt-Dunkley will recur, with Shea Whigham and Garrett Hedlund set to guest star.

Taylor Sheridan and will be a Paramount+ original. Dickey, a character actress best known for her roles in “Hell or High Water” and “My Name Is Earl,” will star as Widow Dolliver, an old woman a press release for the series describes as someone “who has seen it all, and who does not waste time suffering fools.” Brings Plenty (“Yellowstone”) will portray one of Bass Reeves’ friends, a Choctaw Native American by the name of Minco Dodge. Morohunfola (“Run the World,” “The Chi”) will play a former Union solider-turned-prisoner known as Jackson “Jackrabbit” Cole.

Dale Dickey (A Love Song), Margot Bingham (The Walking Dead), Mo Brings Plenty (Yellowstone) and Tosin Morohunfola (Run The World) have been tapped for recurring roles in Taylor Sheridan’s anthology series Lawmen: Bass Reeves (fka Bass Reeves), exec produced by and starring David Oyelowo. Lawmen: Bass Reeves is created for television by Chad Feehan who also serves as showrunner.

Briarcliff Entertainment has released a trailer for The Hill, the inspirational sports drama starring Dennis Quaid, scripted by Angelo Pizzo & Scott Marshall Smith and directed by Jeff Celentano.

EXCLUSIVE: Briarcliff Entertainment has snapped up North American distribution rights from Concourse Media to Christian Swegal’s true crime thriller, Sovereign, starring Nick Offerman, Dennis Quaid, and Jacob Tremblay.

Max has set a summer premiere date for Full Circle, a limited series from director Steven Soderbergh and writer Ed Solomon, starring Claire Danes, Zazie Beetz, Jharrell Jerome and Timothy Olyphant, among others. The six-episode series will debut with two episodes on Thursday, July 13 on Max, followed by two episodes weekly leading up to the finale on Thursday, July 27. Max also released the first trailer. Joe Otterson TV Reporter Donald Sutherland is the latest addition to the cast of the Bass Reeves series currently in the works at Paramount+. The show is now officially titled “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” and is now described as an anthology series with future installments to follow other iconic lawmen who have impacted history in subsequent seasons. The logline for the Bass Reeves season states it will “bring the legendary lawman of the wild west to life. Reeves, known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.”

Brent Lang Executive Editor Will Ferrell brought out an adorable fluffy friend named Sophie to hawk his very R-rated new comedy, “Strays,” at CinemaCon on Wednesday. The comic actor and the border terrier teamed up to portray Reggie, a dog who is abandoned by his deadbeat owner (Will Forte). But Ferrell made it clear who has top billing. “My career is going to go on for a long time, but this is the peak for you,” Ferrell said, as the camera operator at the cavernous Colosseum kept cutting back to Sophie’s soulful eyes. If there’s a “Strays 3,” Ferrell joked, the 8-year old Sophie would need to be recast. “That’s an eternity in dog years…and that’s not even Hollywood years,” he said.

Other notable projects that Walter worked on at Bold Films include the action thriller “No Escape,” featuring Owen Wilson and Pierce Brosnan, and the apocalyptic thriller “Legion,” with Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid. Dennis Quaid leads a cast that includes Heather Graham, Jesse Metcalfe, Brett Rice and Rocky Myers through a “story of faith and survival” far less extraordinary than the filmmakers would have you believe, at least when working from a script by Brian Egeston that feels as mechanical as an aircraft instruction manual. Meanwhile, McNamara, best known for directing 2011 faith-based sleeper hit “Soul Surfer,” leans so heavily on the virtue of starting from the truth that he fails to recognize the abundance of elements that make his movie ring false.

Snider had won the previous week as Doll, but his journey ended here. For Doll, no one got it right. Panelist Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg thought it was Iggy Pop. Robin Thicke went with Gene Simmons, Nicole Scherzinger named David Lee Roth and Ken Jeong guessed Austin Butler.
