Wilson Chapman editorThe final episodes of “Grace and Frankie” will premiere April 29, Netflix announced Tuesday.Created by Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, “Grace and Frankie” stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as the title characters, two very different women who have disliked each other for years, even though their husbands Robert (Martin Sheen) and Sol (Sam Waterston) are law partners. When their husbands announce they’re in love and plan to divorce them to be together, Grace and Frankie find themselves roommates, and overcome their mutual animosity to become best friends navigating romances, business ventures and family drama together.The longest running show on Netflix, “Grace and Frankie” originally premiered in 2015 and has since run for seven seasons.

Just call them the goodbye girls: Grace and Frankie are about to return for their final episodes on Netflix.

Scott Derrickson, the director of “Doctor Strange” and the upcoming “The Black Phone,” has found his next project, an action and love story called “The Gorge” for Skydance.Derrickson will come on board to direct “The Gorge” after Skydance originally picked up a spec script by Zach Dean — who also wrote Skydance’s “The Tomorrow War” — back in 2020 and developed it internally. “The Gorge” also previously landed on the 2020 Black List.

Scott Derrickson is set to direct Skydance’s The Gorge.  Skydance acquired Zack Dean’s spec script last fall in a highly competitive bidding war and have been developing internally.

EXCLUSIVE: Skydance Animation has scored a major coup by acquiring the rights to make Ray Gunn. That will be the next animated film by writer/director Brad Bird, the Oscar-winning Pixar fixture who made The Incredibles films, Ratatouille, and The Iron Giant, as well as the live action Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. He will direct and produce the film from an original story by him. Bird wrote the script with Matthew Robbins.

Wilson Chapman editorRyan Reynolds is ready to go back to the past.Netflix has released the first trailer for “The Adam Project,” a new sci-fi action movie starring Reynolds and directed by Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things,” “Free Guy”).The film stars Reynolds as Adam Reed, a fighter jet pilot from the future. After an accident sends him traveling through time, he winds up in the year 2022, when he was a 12-year old boy (played by Walker Scobell) struggling in school after the apparent disappearance of his father (played by Mark Ruffalo). Jennifer Garner portrays Adam’s mom, and the cast is rounded out by Catherine Keener, Zoe Saldana and Alex Mallari Jr.In the trailer, the two versions of Adam meet after his older self crashes his futuristic jet in the woods near his childhood home.

Deadpool, Bruce Banner and Gamora are all finally sharing a screen together — but not in a Marvel project. The first teaser for Netflix’s “The Adam Project” has arrived, teaming up Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana and more in a time-traveling adventure.In the movie, Adam Reed (Reynolds) is a fighter pilot who accidentally crash lands in present-day 2022.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter“Reacher” has snagged an early Season 2 renewal at Amazon.The action thriller series debuted on the streamer just three days ago, on Feb. 4. It is based on the Jack Reacher novel series by Lee Child.

Jamie Dornan (“Belfast”) has joined the cast of “Heart of Stone,” a spy thriller that will star Gal Gadot in what could be an action franchise in the vein of the “Mission: Impossible” series for Skydance Media and Netflix, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.“The Old Guard” writer Greg Rucka wrote the screenplay with Allison Schroeder. Tom Harper, known for “The Aeronauts” and “Wild Rose,” will direct.Plot details are being kept under wraps.Gadot is producing through her Pilot Wave banner along with Jaron Varsano, Mockingbird’s Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lyn, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will also produce.Patty Whitcher, Harper and Rucka are the executive producers.Skydance has already found success with the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, and Skydance’s “The Old Guard” starring Charlize Theron and “6 Underground” also proved to be big hits for Netflix. Dornan is currently starring in “Belfast,” for which he received a Critics Choice nomination and Golden Globe nomination.

EXCLUSIVE: Fresh off his Oscar-buzzed turn in Belfast, Jamie Dornan looks to have found his next big role, as sources tell Deadline he is set to join Gal Gadot in the international spy thriller Heart of Stone from Netflix and Skydance.

Foundation is expanding with the addition of 10 actors to its Season 2 cast. Joining the Apple TV+ sci-fi drama opposite Lee Pace and Jared Harris are Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Sandra Yi Sencindiver, Ella-Rae Smith, Dimitri Leonidas, Ben Daniels, Holt McCallany, Mikael Persbrandt, Rachel House and Nimrat Kaur. Foundation comes from showrunner and executive producer David S. Goyer and Skydance Television.

EXCLUSIVE: A different kind of reteam is in store for Ghosted, the Apple Original Films romantic action adventure film to be helmed by Dexter Fletcher. Ana de Armas will reteam with her Knives Out co-star Chris Evans in the film. Scarlett Johansson, Evans’ oft-collaborator in the Marvel movies, has amicably exited the picture in what sources describe as a scheduling conflict.

Jennifer Lopez and her Nuyorican Productions are collaborating with Skydance and Concord to develop a slate of original projects based on Concord’s catalog of musicals, which includes the works of Broadway icons Rodgers & Hammerstein.

She joins previously announced cast member Jane Fonda in the collaboration between Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation.Peggy Holmes (“Secret of the Wings”) is directing the film written by Kiel Murray (“Cars”).
