Listen to Tegan And Sara’s playful new single ‘Fucking Up What Matters’

Tegan and Sara have returned with a new single called ‘Fucking Up What Matters’ – you can listen to it below. The track marks the first material from the Canadian duo since they signed to the New York indie label Mom+Pop Music, which is also home to the likes of Courtney Barnett, Sleater-Kinney and Lucius.Produced by John Congleton (Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen, Future Islands), ‘Fucking Up What Matters’ serves as a taste of Tegan and Sara’s 10th studio album, the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Hey, I’m Just Like You’.“‘Fucking Up What Matters’ felt like an ode to the moment in your life when you realise that you have most, if not all of the things you wanted and you start to think about what would happen if you just walked away from it all,” explained Tegan Quin.“It’s the moment in the middle of the night when you start to daydream about something else, something you never imagined.”She continued: “It’s the feeling you have when you think you might have hit a new low, and yet you’ve never felt so good. Sometimes it’s admitting that you can’t stop yourself from fucking up what matters, that you feel your strongest.“And as my mom would say, it’s often when we’re fucking up what matters, that we’re learning the most about ourselves.”Tegan and Sara signed to Sire/Warner ahead of releasing their fifth record, 2007’s ‘The Con’.

Tegan and Sara Sign With Mom+Pop Music

Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorLong-running Canadian twin-sister duo Tegan and Sara have signed with Mom + Pop Music and launched the partnership with a new single, “Fucking Up What Matters.” The move represents a return to their roots, in a sense: Mom + Pop was co-founded by Michael Goldstone, the veteran A&R who signed the sisters to Sire Records early in their career (and also signed Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine to Epic Records). The label’s roster also includes Courtney Barnett, Lucius, Sleater-Kinney, Porter Robinson, Ashe, Madeon and more.“Michael Goldstone signed us to Sire/Warner in 2006, we had just made ‘The Con’ and felt like the vision Goldie and the team at Sire had for us and the album were a good fit,” the pair said in a statement. “But soon after he signed us, he left to start Mom+Pop. We never held it against him, but joked that one day we’d work together for real.

SXSW Film Festival Slates Music Docs on XXXTentacion, Sheryl Crow, Dio, Nick Cave, Tanya Tucker, Jazz Fest and More

Chris Willman Music WriterSheryl Crow, Nick Cave, King Crimson, Dio, XXXTentacion, Tanya Tucker, Chumbawamba, Courtney Barnett, Cesária Évora and Mojo Nixon — together again for the first time: These are some of the highly diverse subjects of a slate of music documentaries (or, in the case of Tierra Whack, a fictional film) set to unspool at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin March 11-20.The 16 movies represented in the “24 Beats Per Second” lineup are nearly all world premieres, in a film festival that skews toward SXSW’s original roots as a pure music festival by always carving out a special category for features that chronicle musicians or music scenes. The music doc coming into the festival with probably the highest level of fan anticipation is , which promises to have director Sabaah Folayan offering “a sensitive portrayal” of a precocious, highly controversial, Soundcloud-based rapper “whose acts of violence, raw musical talent and open struggles with mental health left an indelible mark on his generation before his death at the age of 20.” While many of the festival entries are looking for a sale from their exposure at SXSW, “Look at Me!” is already set to stream on Hulu this summer. Joining the artist profiles in the film lineup are documentaries about the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, “Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story,” by co-directors Frank Marshall and Ryan Suffern, and rubber bridge guitars, in “Really Good Rejects,” a film that will have producer Aaron Dessner talking about using them on Taylor Swift’s recent folkier albums. Some of the films promise to be complete life and career chronicles, like those devoted to Crow, Barnett and Dio.
