Before the televised ceremony, SAG announced that “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Stranger Things” had won outstanding action performance by a stunt ensemble in a motion picture and television series, respectively. “The Banshees of Inisherin” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” lead this year’s nominations with five nods each, including best ensemble, the ceremony’s highest honor. The two films will compete against Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon,” Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” and Sarah Polley’s “Women Talking” for the prize.

Martin McDonagh’s “The Banshees of Inisherin” and Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” lead the nominations, with both films earning five nods, including the highest honor of best ensemble. Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon,” Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” and Sarah Polley’s “Women Talking” round out the best ensemble category. “Ozark” led the TV field with four nods, with “Barry,” “Better Call Saul” and “Only Murders in the Building” each receiving three.

SAG Awards history, the ceremony will be streamed live on Netflix’s YouTube channel rather than being shown on traditional TV.The move precedes the decision to broadcast the awards exclusively on Netflix, starting in 2024. Normal People and Aftersun star Paul Mescal says people have been pronouncing his surname wrong since he became famous.The Irish actor, who was recently nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a single dad in 2022 breakout film Aftersun, was speaking to The Hollywood Reporter when he discussed a common mispronunciation of his surname.“People get confused with how to pronounce my name because of the drink Mezcal,” he said, revealing that he pronounces it with a softer ‘s’ and ‘a’.“Everybody does it,” he added. “I pronounce it ‘Mescal’ and I wonder if I launched a tequila line I would have to, I would call it ‘Mescal’s Mezcal’.“I’m on the fence, I’m on the fence about that one,” he added.In a four-star review of Aftersun, NME wrote: “Liable to increase the cult around Mescal, following his BAFTA-winning turn in Normal People, Aftersun may be small in scale, but it leaves a distinct and lasting impression.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once”Current status: Presumed frontrunner, with reservations.Best-case scenario: It wins Producers Guild on Saturday and SAG ensemble on Sunday to give it a formidable trifecta with the Directors Guild Award it already won. Matt Reeves’ superhero film earned six nominations including best superhero movie, three individual best actor in a superhero movie mentions for Robert Pattinson, Colin Farrell and Paul Dano, with the latter also picking up a second nom for best villain in a movie. Zoë Kravitz also landed a nom for actress in a superhero movie for her portrayal of Catwoman. Other favorites of the Critics Choice Association included many of this year’s Oscar nominees such as “Avatar: The Way of Water,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “Top Gun: Maverick.”

Warner Bros/DC’s The Batman leads all nominations for the third annual Critics Choice Super Awards, which revealed nominees Wednesday for the year’s best across the superhero, sci-fi/fantasy, horror and action genres in film and on TV.

Oscar luncheon magnet Tom Cruise, all Emmy and Oscar un-nominated for their work over the past year but represented in the Critics Choice Super Award nominations, honoring horror, superhero, science fiction and action movies and television series.Oscar nominees such as Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) and Angela Bassett (“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”) are also repped here, as well as Colin Farrell, nominated twice for two of his other 2022 films, “After Yang” and “The Batman”. (Co-nominee Brendan Fraser managed a nod for the HBO Max series “Doom Patrol as well).

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Evelyn Wang’s hot dog fingers from “Everything Everywhere All at Once” can soon be yours. A24, the indie studio behind the Oscar-nominated film, is auctioning off the props from the zany sci-fi adventure for charity. Fans will be able to bid on the original decor, wardrobe and set pieces from the multiversal “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” including but not limited to the taxidermy stuffed raccoon called Raccacoonie, Deirdre Beaubeirdree’s Auditor of the Year trophy (that, yes, doubles as a butt plug), Jobu Tupaki’s Elvis jumpsuit and the Rockverse rocks (a delight of Colin Farrell’s). The online bidding for A24’s auction starts on Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. PT and closes on March 2 at 12 p.m. PT. All of the proceeds will be donated to one of the three charities — Laundry Workers Center, Transgender Law Center and Asian Mental Health Project — selected by the filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, know professionally as the Daniels.

Irish actor Paul Mescal had fans in a spin after speaking Irish on the BAFTA's red carpet.The Normal People star, 27, who has reportedly called time on his romance with musician Phoebe Bridgers, was nominated for Leading Actor at the 76th edition of the awards for his portrayal of single father Calum in independent film, Aftersun. Before the ceremony, he spoke to an interviewer for Irish language channel TG4, where he commended the amount of Irish talent being recognised at this year's BAFTAs.

Austin Butler paid tribute to Lisa Marie Presley after winning best actor at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for "Elvis." Following his big win at the Royal Festival Hall in London, Butler admitted he felt "honored" to be welcomed into the Presley family and was also grieving Lisa's death. Lisa Marie died in Los Angeles on Jan. 12 at the age of 54.

German language film All Quiet On The Western Front was the big winner at the EE BAFTAs, scooping a total of seven prizes.The Netflix anti-war epic, directed by German filmmaker Edward Berger and based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque, scooped top gongs including best film and best director. It broke the record for the highest number of Baftas for a foreign language film previously held by Italian coming-of-age drama Cinema Paradiso, which claimed five in 1988.Taking to the stage at the climax of the event at London’s Royal Festival Hall, cinematographer James Friend said the film showed how a generation of young German men were “poisoned by right-wing nationalistic propaganda” and he stressed that the film’s message remains “relevant” nearly a century on.

Grant and Alison Hammond.All Quiet On The Western Front was the big winner of the night, taking away seven of the 14 awards it had been nominated for while The Banshees Of Inisherin won four awards.However Aftersun only won in one of the four categories it was nominated in, with Charlotte Wells picking up the award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.Aftersun lost out in the Outstanding Film category to The Banshees Of Inisherin while both Paul Mescal and Colin Farrell were beaten in the Leading Actor category by Austin Butler – and fans aren’t happy.“I would have accepted losing to Colin Farrell but Paul Mescal losing to Elvis? No, just no” wrote one fan.

Yossman In an awkward mix-up, Carey Mulligan’s name was accidentally read out as the winner for Best Supporting Actress instead of the actual winner, Kerry Condon, at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday evening. The error happened as “CODA” actor Troy Kotsur, who won Best Supporting Actor at last year’s ceremony, introduced the nominees alongside a sign language interpreter. As clips of the nominees’ performances were shown, the interpreter read out Mulligan’s name to cheers and whoops. After a couple of seconds he quickly said: “Kerry Condon…Kerry Condon.” It’s unclear whether the mistake was Kotsur’s or his interpreter’s. Condon, who was nominated for her performance in “The Banshees Of Inisherin,” swiftly took to the stage to accept her award. “Oh my God, thanks a million, really. This means so much to me,” she told the audience.
