Jelly Roll hit the stage at the 58th annual ACM Awards on Thursday, and got some surprise help from country songstress Lainey Wilson!The genre-defying artist hit the stage for a beautiful and emotionally charged performance of his song «Save Me,» which made great use of his raw and powerful vocals.As he sang, Wilson — fresh off her big win for Female Artist of the Year — came out, rocking a whole new blue-and-while ensemble and she joined him for a stunning duet of the heartbreaking tune.Their performance was one of the musical highlights of the light, and was a perfect transition into Wilson's solo ACM Awards set, where she ramped up the energy with a performance of her single, «Grease.»Jelly Roll spoke with ET's Rachel Smith on the red carpet ahead of the show and opened up about his plans for his big performance.«I feel like I'm gonna take the world to a real intimate meeting,» he shared, without revealing his surprise at the time. «I feel like sometimes you take the show to the people and sometimes you bring the people to the show, and tonight I wanna feel like we're all sitting around a campfire and having a conversation.»While he was excited for the chance to perform, Jelly Roll also admitted that he was nervous about performing right in front of some of his peers — specifically, celebrated musician Chris Stapleton.«It's gonna be hard! Dolly Parton gave Garth Brooks a little more than he bargained for as co-host of the Academy of Country Music Awards Thursday. During the 2023 ACMs opening monologue at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, Brooks took a minute to honor Parton, the "G.O.A.T." The acronym stands for "greatest of all time." On cue, Dolly rolled out on stage with a live goat in a wagon and jokingly said, "Did I hear you say you were looking for a goat? I've got your goat right here." They shared kind exchanges back and forth before Dolly mentioned hearing she's a "hall pass" for Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood. "I just had a thought," Parton said.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic At the 58th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, the top prize, entertainer of the year, was handed out to Chris Stapleton, even as Lainey Wilson and Hardy won in the the greatest number of categories, with four each — two of which they shared for the duet “Wait in the Truck.” Technically, Hardy walked away with six trophies, since the ACMs offer double awards for artists who co-write their nominated songs. Accepting for album of the year, Wilson said, “I wrote 300 songs during the pandemic.” Noting that some fans have said listening to her “Bell Bottom Country” album helped save their lives, Wilson said, “Writing these songs saved mine.” She quoted one of her own lines: “Be who you are, ’cause everybody else is taken.”

The King of Country is about to rule the summer and fall.George Strait, 70, will officially launch his 11-concert ‘Stadium Tour’ this week starting May 6 at Glendale, AZ’s State Farm Stadium.At seven shows on the run, he’ll be bringing decorated special guests Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town along for the ride.Warren Zeiders will join in the fun for the Buckeye Country Superfest on May 27.To close the tour, he’ll play back-to-back nights in his home state at Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena on Nov. 17 and Nov.

Emily Longeretta Brooks & Dunn, Chris Stapleton and Diplo closed out the 2023 Stagecoach Festival — and made the 106-degree heat well worth it. Early Sunday evening, Brooks & Dunn took the Mane Stage, returning to the desert for the first time in 13 years. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn played a 14-song, hour-long set, which included their biggest hits — “Brand New Man,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “Neon Moon,” “My Maria” and “Red Dirt Road,” to name a few. Early on, the pair hit a bit of a technical glitch while performing “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone,” with the music cutting out. The pros didn’t pause, continuing on until it was figured it out behind the scenes.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic “Thanks for coming to my dad’s birthday party,” said Micah Nelson, a few songs into an all-star tribute to Willie Nelson at the Hollywood Bowl, attended by a sold-out house happy that Willie had found a way to schedule the 90th anniversary of his birth on a Saturday night. With roughly seven decades of songwriting and recording to commemorate, though, the party is stretching over two nights, bundled together and sold as a single ticket, where by the end of Sunday night everyone will have heard about 50 artists perform a total of about 75 songs. Ironically, one of the first numbers performed Saturday evening was young Texas country artist Charley Crockett doing a cut that Nelson had a hit with as a budding songwriter in the late ’50s: “The Party’s Over.” That title proved as un-prescient for Nelson’s career 65 years ago as it proved unprophetic for the scope of the Bowl celebration this weekend. But a little irony is always welcome in Willie’s world.

Christian has been upped to executive VP of marketing, while Femia has been named executive VP of business and legal affairs for the label group consisting of Capitol Records Nashville, EMI Records Nashville, Mercury Nashville, and MCA Nashville. Christian was formerly senior VP of marketing, a role she occupied in 2020 after leading the publicity department at UMG Nashville following the 2012 merger of EMI and UMG. In her elevated post, she will oversee UMG Nashville’s artist development, brands and sponsorship, creative services, international marketing, and media marketing departments for the label’s artist roster. She has previously worked to launch projects for Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, and Luke Bryan, among others.

Willie Nelson has no plans to slow down ahead of his 90th birthday.  The legendary Grammy winner has been preparing to kick off his latest tour, starting with a special appearance at the Hollywood Bowl. Sheryl Crow, Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg and more popular artists are scheduled to perform with Nelson during the two-day event. During a recent interview, Nelson revealed why he wanted to celebrate his milestone birthday on the road instead of taking the day off.  "Working is really good for me, no matter what kind of show it is," Nelson told AARP."The fact that I’ll be there for two days with a lot of my good friends coming out…saying hello and singing with me makes it a lot of fun.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Amazon has come on board this month’s Stagecoach Festival in California to provide a livestream of the country music gathering. Live action from the April 28-30 festival in Indio will be streamed on both Prime Video and Amazon Music’s Twitch channel. It marks the second year that the festival will be extensively streamed, albeit the first involving Amazon. In 2022, Stagecoach livestreamed most of the main attractions on its own YouTube channel. In some years prior to that, Yahoo had had exclusive rights to stream select artists’ sets. Coverage from the festival will begin at 3 p.m. each of the festival’s three days. Stagecoach and Amazon did not immediately reveal how many or which sets will be streamed from the festival; a press release promised that performances from the Mane Stage will be seen.

Stagecoach 2023, the annual country music festival, returns to its home at the Empire Polo Club grounds in Indio, Calif. from Apr. 28-30. While there are still weekend passes available on the Stagecoach website, you might actually find more affordable tickets on resale sites such as Vividseats. This year’s star-studded lineup features an impressive mix of country, rock and pop stars. Luke Bryan, Kane Brown and Chris Stapleton are headlining the three-day festival, while other bold-faced performers include Jon Pardi, Brooks & Dunn, Old Dominion, ZZ Top and Lainey Wilson. In addition to Bryan, who makes his fourth headlining appearance at this year’s fest, other returnees include EDM artist Diplo, who this year is curating the DJ sets in the dance hall, and celebrity foodie Guy Fieri, whose smokehouse sessions with artists on the bill are a top draw.
