The Netflix series “The OA” certainly had a following, and the team behind the sci-fi show is reuniting with another genre project.

Mónica Marie Zorrilla FX has ordered the limited series “Retreat,” written by “The OA” creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij. The mystery series — a twist on the detective trope — follows an amateur sleuth named Darby Hart, as she attempts to solve a murder case at a secluded retreat.

Marling and Batmanglij will both direct.The series centers on “gen Z amateur sleuth” Darby Hart, who is “invited by a reclusive billionaire to participate in a Retreat at a remote and dazzling location,” per FX’s series description.

Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling are teaming up again!

FX has greenlighted Retreat, a limited series from The OA creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij. Marling will play a key role in the mystery series which follows Darby Hart, a Gen Z amateur sleuth, as she attempts to solve a murder at a secluded retreat. The network is expected to confirm the pickup during its portion of the summer TCA virtual press tour.

The OA, Patrick Gibson has said he would “love it” if the show was given the chance to return for a third season.The OA was cancelled by Netflix after just two seasons on August 5, 2019. It had originally been scheduled to run for three.“I would do that show for ten seasons if I could,” said Gibson, who played troubled high-school student Steve Winchell in the series.
