McKinley Franklin editor After nearly nine years, Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross is ready to lead the Expendables once again. The first official trailer for the fourth installment of “The Expendables” franchise has been released after a nine-year hiatus for the film series. Titled “Expend4bles,” the movie is set to release on Sept. 22.  Franchise vets Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture will all reprise their long-term roles alongside Stallone in the upcoming film. New additions to the cast include Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, Eddie Hall, Iko Uwais and Andy Garcia.

Gravitas Ventures, an Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company, has picked up North American rights to the post-apocalyptic thriller Stronghold, directed by Julia Camara. McKinley Franklin editor Max has revealed the rollout plans for its four original documentary specials narrated by Morgan Freeman in honor of Warner Bros.’ 100th anniversary.  The first two specials will make their debut at Cannes on May 24 as 2023 Official Cannes Classics Selections, followed by a May 25 debut on Max. The remaining two specials will be available to stream on Max on June 1.  The “100 Years of Warner Bros.” docuseries pays homage to the output of Warner Bros. over the past century. Featuring interviews with directors, actors, executives, journalists and historians, the specials highlight everything from the studios’ early beginnings to its presence in the modern day. 

Book Club: The Next Chapter stars Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen, who chatted with Metro Weekly about the new sequel to their 2018 hit comedy, written and directed by Bill Holderman.The screen legends were missing their girl Diane Keaton, who rounds out the quartet portraying four longtime best friends, who, this time out, jet off to Italy for a bachelorette adventure. Yet they still basked in the glow of their collective thrilling adventure shooting the film throughout Rome, Venice, and Tuscany.The gorgeous Italian scenery, and local color — like homegrown legend Giancarlo Giannini, featured in a supporting role — proved enchanting offscreen as well as in the film.“It was never stressful because you were always in a gondola, sort of coasting along,” recalls Bergen.

Michaela Zee editor From riding boats in Venice to landing in Tuscany in a helicopter, “Book Club: The Next Chapter” star Jane Fonda had quite the adventure in Italy with Diane Keaton, Mary Steenburgen and Candice Bergen.  Her favorite memory there? “When we went to see the Sistine Chapel at night, and there was nobody else there,” Fonda told Variety at the New York premiere on Monday night. “And we had the whole ceiling explained to us by a great guide. That was a real treat.”  Although the sequel was filmed nearly five years after the original, Fonda never lost contact with her “Book Club” co-stars. 

Naman Ramachandran Disney’s “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3” ruled the U.K. and Ireland box office with a £12 million ($15.2 million) opening, according to numbers released by Comscore. The latest Marvel Studios release debuted at Number 1 with an 72% market share, according to Disney, and had the biggest three-day opening weekend of 2023. In its fifth weekend, Universal’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” collected £1.3 million in second place for a total of £49 million. In third position, in its third weekend, Studiocanal’s “Evil Dead Rise” earned £493,732 for a total of £4.4 million.

Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace? will return for a third season on HBO Max and CNN on April 28, with the news network moving its run of the show to Friday nights from Sundays.

Brian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Chris Wallace’s interview program, “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace,” will move to Friday nights from Sundays while continuing to stream on HBO Max, a change as the series prepares for its third cycle of conversations between the news veteran and people of note “Our viewers have come to expect real, authentic conversations with a rich variety of guests,” said Wallace, in a statement. “We’ve really hit our stride this season and I’m excited to continue to bring these timely conversations to both HBO Max and CNN.” Guests scheduled for the third season include Carol Burnett, Bill Hader, Jay Leno, Andy Garcia, Miranda Lambert, with more to be announced in the weeks ahead. Wallace expects to book interviews with politicians and presidential hopefuls as the nation moves full-bore into the 2024 election cycle. The series will be available on the new enhanced streaming service, Max, when it launches in the U.S. on Tuesday, May 23.

The panel, held March 31 as part of the World Film Industry Conference and hosted by the nonprofit org NewFilmmakers LA, featured a master filmmakers’ dialogue moderated by Variety chief film critic Peter Debruge. The panelists were drawn from different disciplines: Oscar-winning documentary director Morgan Neville, filmmaker/showrunner Aline Brosh McKenna, producer Paul Perez (Perez Pictures), Walt Disney Animation Studios vfx supervisor Marlon West and previsualization expert Chris Edwards (The Third Floor).

But their relaxing getaway turns into a wild adventure when the trip goes off the rails at a bachelorette party, bringing secrets to light.“The older the vines, the sweeter the fruit,” Diane says in the trailer.

Diane Keaton shared a montage of kissing scenes from some of her best movies on Tuesday, with a tongue-in-cheek caption that read: "HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO ALL THE MEN WHO WERE PAID TO KISS ME."  The 77-year-old, who has said she hasn’t dated in more than a decade, included clips of her locking lips with stars like Jack Nicholson, Keanu Reeves, Andy Garcia, Sam Shepard and Michael Douglas with Outcast's song "Happy Valentine's Day" in the background.  The "Book Club" actress' Instagram post prompted a torrent of celebrity reaction with Melanie Griffith leaving four heart emojis and Jennifer Grey telling her to "GET IT!"  Nancy Meyers, who directed "Something’s Gotta Give" in which Keaton kissed both Nicholson and Reeves, wrote, "Hilarious but as someone who was around for a few of those - those guys always wanted one more take."           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Diane Keaton (@diane_keaton) In a recent interview promoting her new romantic comedy "Maybe I Do," Keaton told Extra she hadn’t been on a date in about 15 years. "They probably just thought, 'Enough's enough … she's too weird.' Diego Boneta is making a new romantic comedy. “At Midnight” follows Alejandro (Boneta), a hotel manager that falls in love with Sophie (Monica Barbaro), a Hollywood movie star who’s staying at the hotel he works in as she films her new movie. They feel a spark as soon as they meet, but can only meet at midnight when both of their schedules allow it and there’s no one around.

The Santa Barbara Film Festival has today unveiled the lineup for its 38th edition, taking place in-person from February 8-18.

MGM+, formerly Epix, unveiled its programming lineup and development slate that includes a new John Wells drama based on a Stephen L. Carter novel, a period drama about Harlem crime boss Stephanie St. Clair, based on an MGM movie, and a docuseries about the disco era.

Phyllis Carlyle, a casting director and manager who worked with such big names as Willem Dafoe, Jude Law and Geena Davis who later produced the hit films Seven and The Accidental Tourist, has died. She was 80.

In its 21st year, SDIFF will include the return of the Opening Night Film Premiere, the Night of the Stars Tribute and Culinary Cinema. The festival has also announced new additions to this year’s lineup, including the drama “She Said,” with Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan, and “The Inspection,” starring Jeremy Pope, Gabrielle Union and Bokeem Woodbine. Garcia will receive the Gregory Peck Award, Hall will be presented the Virtuoso Award, Hale with the Fairbanks Award and Walter with the Virtuoso Award. As previously announced, Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly) will receive the Spotlight Award following the screening of his upcoming drama film “Good News” on Oct. 23.
