Michelle Yeoh‘s recent Netflix series The Brothers Sun has been cancelled just two months after its first and now only season was released.The crime drama is set in Southern California’s San Gabriel Valley and follows Taiwanese mobster Charles Sun (played by Justin Chien), whose father is assassinated in Taipei. Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Production firm Movierock and rights sales outfit Hive Filmworks are in advanced production on “Hear Me: Our Summer,” a Korean remake of hit 2009 romance film “Hear Me” from Taiwan. The story involves a motorbike delivery man who falls in love with a hearing-impaired younger woman. Comparing themselves with water birds and trees the pair slowly try to break through the barriers in their relationship, pursue their dreams and take things to the next level. The retread stars Hong Kyung, who has a recent string of appearances including Netflix’s “D.P,” “TV’s Revenant” and “Hero,” and the upcoming “Troll Factory.” Co-star Roh Yoon-seo has credits in “Crash Course in Romance” and “Our Blues” and is currently one of the most ubiquitous faces in Korea thanks to her position as the face of the Paris Baguette bakery and café chain. Stylistically, the adaptation aims for the feel of Iwai Shunji’s pan-Asian hit “Love Letter,” and is directed by Jo Seon-ho, who previously made “A Day.” Movierock previously produced a 2018 Korean remake of 2004 Japanese hit “Be With You.” The film is already being pre-sold to multiple territories in Asia.

(G)I-DLE’s Shuhua goes on temporary hiatus amid health issues

(G)I-DLE‘s Shuhua will be absent from upcoming activities with the K-pop group due to health issues.Today (February 8), her label CUBE Entertainment announced on fan community platform Weverse that the (G)I-DLE’s Shuhua had recently been treated at a hospital for “persistent dizziness stemming from a decline in her [physical] condition”.It has since been determined that the singer will need “sufficient rest and stability” in order to recover, and as such, will be absent from (G)I-DLE appearances until further notice.“While Shuhua expressed a strong determination to continue with her activities, we have decided to temporarily suspend all her schedules to allow her to fully focus on rest and recovery,” CUBE explained.The announcement of an official hiatus comes shortly after the Taiwanese singer was absent from a live performance of the band’s recent comeback title ‘Super Lady’ on February 3, along with a scheduled fancall event the day before, which CUBE Entertainment said was due to a “physical illness”.‘Super Lady’ is the lead single of (G)I-DLE’s sophomore studio album ‘[2]’. Its full release was preceded by the single ‘Wife’, which was banned days later by national broadcaster KBS for its “sexually explicit” lyrics.
