Zayn Malik is reportedly keen on a One Direction reunion, a whole decade after his departure from the chart-topping boyband.
The 31 year old singer left fans gobsmacked when he decided to leave One Direction and pursue a solo career. After years of keeping a low profile, it seems Zayn is eager to reconnect with former bandmates Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson. Sources claim that Zayn is seeking "forgiveness and friendship" after their shared journey to stardom, which began on The X Factor in 2010.
His exit from the group, attributed to "stress" preceded One Direction's pause on activities less than a year later. Now, as a father, Zayn is looking to rekindle the close bond they once enjoyed, according to sources. "He is trying to figure out the best way to reach out because it will be odd, weird, and uncomfortable, but it is something that has been on his mind," an insider revealed to Daily Mail.
"Whether that leads them to working together again musically is one thing, but Zayn's reasoning is to become friends with his mates that he did so much with." They assured a working relationship isn't a concern for Zayn right now, he simply wants to "be friends again".
The pop star was just 17 years old when One Direction was formed and following his exit, admitted he just wanted to be a "normal 22-year-old," reports the Mirror. But life's been anything but ordinary, as he experienced solo chart-topping success with hit single PillowTalk and album Made In Mind. On becoming a father with model Gigi Hadid, Zayn has said: "She's a force of nature," referring to his daughter.
