Moon lovers won't have to wait long for another supermoon after tonight as the Full Blue Moon will fall on August 30. The term 'sturgeon moon' originates from North America and is the common nickname given to the full moon in August - it stems from the increase in sturgeon fish in North American lakes at this time of year.

Tonight's supermoon will peak very early in the evening at 7.31pm. It will rise in the east at a distance of 222,159 miles and will most viewable after sunset which should be around 9pm.
If you want to increase your chances of spotting the moon, it's best to head to an area where there are less clouds in the sky so as not to obstruct your view. While you don't need specialist equipment to spot the moon, it may be a good idea to have a small telsecope on hand if you're in an area with a bit more light pollution.
